Hi all,

My bro-in-law has just been given WoW as a B-day present, however he has no mmorpg experience. He has asked if it was possible for me to get a copy of WoW and join up with him and help him out, ive played the trial for about 2 days but im experienced at the games in general.

Question is: What is the cheapest i can get WoW for? And can you buy it via download? What about second hand issues?

Is there any other programs that enhance WoW, make it easier/better?

I saw it in Game for £14.99 the other day and I dont believe you can download it.

As for the whole enhancement thing there are interface addons to make gameplay easier and more efficient. I suggest you check out CTMOD as a starting point and the curse-gaming website as it contains a plugin for just about anything you could think of wanting.

I've seen it for sale from a few of the bigger online shops for fifteen quid. Wow is easy to get into right out of the box, I wouldn't bother messing with interface mods until you've gotten used to the original one and know what you want to change.

I imagine there's a free trial on the go aswell, but don't know for sure. Give that wonderful, helpful WoW community a big HI! from me :p

You can get it for £10 from Amazon with 30 days free or download the free trial from http://www.wow-europe.com (if site works that is) for 14 days. Second hand you'll need to watch in case the account has been banned for any reason.

I used to use Cosmos UI interface add-on though I'm not if it would make it any easier for your brother. You might consider starting Alliance characters on the newest server as their new areas are bright and colourful to look at, which might impress him.

bare in mind also that if you do buy WoW - you will probably have to sit there after install for about three hours whilst your comp installs the patches for it lol

lol, im used to that, i think Ultima online takes nearly 4 hours to patch now from a fresh install :)

Just wondering, as he has the game, could i not use his disks and just buy a serial key? I know this is possible with some games as some have 'friends' codes when bought new.

hmmmm could be possible im not sure - although i would always suggest that £15 is better than possibly mucking the while thing up!

those are the 2 files needed to upgrade from the installed version to the latest patch in wow

download takes 2-5 mins depending on connection

hmm, it seems that he can send me a recruit-a-friend email that will give me a free trial. If i then upgrade to a full account he gets 30 days free. I can upgrade online for $39.99 (£22) or buy a retail copy and use that.

you sure he has a euro version?

seems strange to be quoting dollars lol.

i wouldnt want you to buy the euro, try to log into the same server he says he is on and find he is playing state side and you on the euro servers :D

You cannot buy a key from what i know, game can be had on the high street for £10-£15 thats with 30 days trial.

well ive been told we are going sofa shopping later so i may just grab it then as its £15 on the high street.

be prepaird to lose a lot of time,

anyways if you grab a copy, your better off starting off on a pve server, player versus empire/environment.

This way you can play with out being ganked by a player on the other side until you decide you want to fight.

If you do, get onto Kul Tiras server, i am in an excellent guild Called The New British Empire.

We will welcome you in, friendly bunch who help each other out.

just message me in game

Gildor. Night elf hunter.
Ajax. Human warrior.

Cheers

im used to having no time, ive 2 eve accounts :D

Feel like a need a break though from eve, its been about a year since my last one.

lets put it like this, i dropped eve about 2 and a half years ago for wow lol

I havent looked back. :D

bit like you, i got my brother in law, and god son hooked on this game also.

Start on a P.V.E server, that'll give you chance to get to grips with the game without having to worry about been duffed up by players who are a lot higher level than you.

As for Characters, create an Horde character. I started off with a human warrior that I got to about lvl 32 but found there to be a lot of immature players. Rolled an Orc Warrior on the Draneor server and haven't looked back
