WoW advice

jsut wondering about the Enchanting Skill, is there a recommended skill to use along side it? Herbalism maybe?

And just how useful is the engineering skill?

I was just going to go the usual mining>blacksmith route but figured that it is probably flooded with people.

Shaman could counter that easily.

Use purge to dispel 2 buffs at a time, so renew, power word: sheild and inner fire. Then use earth shock to stop them casting any heals or dmg spells then just melee them to death tbh :p

Edit: Not forgetting grounding totem to absorb one damage spell and tremor totem to dispell fear :D

Is earth shock magic?

If so dispel. :p

how exactly can they dispell it, dunno what their spell is. Earth shock is an instant cast nature spell.

Shamans arnt amazing against every class. Paladin is one, as they can take more damage, deal more melee damage and still heal. Rogues are a pain in the arse, pretty much no chance against them.

contemplated getting this now i have a lot more time on my hands,

what is the best character for soloing? and which server would be good to go on?

I've always found it best if I only have one character on a server to use something that is useful for my class. In the case of a priest, I'd recommend Herb/Alc, Ench/Tailor, Ench/Skin, Ench/Mining or Tailor/Skin, for the following reasons:
Herbalism doesn't make as much as other gathering profs, but you can generally make a decent amount selling healing/mana potions, and towards end game selling Arcanite transmutes.
Tailoring helps a lot when trying to level enchanting, as you need items to disenchant, so as you make them to level your tailoring, disenchant them and use the mats.
Mining and skinning are generally quite steady earners, and you will also be able to sell enchanted leather or enchanted thorium at a higher level.
Skinning is a decent side skill for Tailoring as you need leather to make most bags and it will make you some money.
Of all 3 armor crafters, I'd say tailors can make the best stuff to use from the start, as well as being able to craft your own bags. There are some robes that can only be worn by the crafter too (eg robe of power ~ level 30) which are better than drops.

Get tailoring with enchanting, tailoring allows you to make green items without a corresponding gathering profession, which you can then disenchant for your enchanting skill. A warning however, enchanting is imo, the most expensive tradeskill as you'll be disenchanting green/blue loot instead of selling it. And unless they've changed it, the master enchanter trainer is in the middle of an instance, whereas all the others are somewhat easier to get to.

Engineering is imo the most useful tradeskill at the end game, but if this is your first character I would suggest you consider doing 2 gathering professions e.g. 2 of herbalism, mining or skinning. You can't make anything but you can sell what you gather in the auction house for money. Production professions are a money sink rather than a money generator for most people.

Generally though I find professions in WoW a pain and have vowed never to do one again (apart from first aid) after farming 500 Dreamfoil for high end potions.

All characters are pretty good for soloing - I play a 60 shaman and had no problems levelling up on my own. I believe that mages level the fastest though due to their AE abilities.
