WoW American version?

One of the mainly US forums I'm on are looking at starting a WoW clan, and its something I'm looking at taking part in. So, looking at shattered crystal, they list both American and European versions of the games. While I know that most games have seperate US/EU versions, they all use 1 main master server for you to create servers. But there are so many WoW realms anyway, could I connect to US realms with the UK client?
Also, the US client/time codes seem to be a good deal cheaper than the UK ones, persumably due to vat and so on.

So, would I be able to connect to US servers with the european version of the game, and if not, is there anything in place like IP checks that would prevent me running the US version?

Thanks!

You'll need an american key to create an account on an american server
You'll need an eu key to create an account on an eu server

You can get the eu client to work with us servers if you alter realmlist.wtf, but you need a US account.

As long as you have a US client + account, you can play on the US servers from the UK.

When I have done it before you run into problems on patch day when the us servers are ahead of the eu servers, and other small problems that can normally be ignored.

TBH, i would buy the version intended for the servers you want to play on to prevent any unforeseen problems.
