WoW character swap

We can safely assume that the father and sister had the same surname. If the billing address is the same, then it adds as further evidence that the account isnt being traded away.

What you have posted is an exceptional circumstance. In your example, what Blizzard wanted was proof that the account wasn't leaving the family. Name is obviously going to be the first port of call. Given the circumstances you've mentioned, Blizzard obviously AGREED to the account split, and asked that the billing address remain the same as further proof that the account wasn't leaving the family.

So he wasn't VERY wrong was he? He wasn't wrong at all.

Your post makes perfect sense and in general I agree.

What if the sister was married and had a house of her own? Like you said though, different circumstances. You are assuming quite a bit yourself and about Blizzards inside policy.

When TBC came out, a few guildies swapped accounts so that they had a geared character ready to go, just that they wanted a new main raiding character. Something I'm considering doing if I plunge for WotLK.

I certainly wouldn't trade with anyone I don't know though.

The overall billing address remains the same. Can't say i'd want to pay for an account i'd given away!

I suppose i'm making assumptions, but really i'm just trying to apply common sense. People seem to think Blizzard is some kind of machine that is run by some kind of Code, and forget that it's staffed by actual people with actual feelings and actual intelligence :P

As an FYI:
I play on the US servers (have done since the beta). I recently got an account from a friend because I didn't want to pay for a full game again (there were no toons on the account). It was all under his name and was being paid for on my CC. not once have I had an issue with this. It's also now under my email address (but still his name).

I dont understand how people level so quick, im playing a few hours a night with a warrior and its taking blooming ages. 1300-1500 a quest and like 18000 a level is a nightmare by myself and thats just level 18 :P

This works because you are not trying to move any characters about. If you did it wouldnt let you do it as the accounts are not the same registered name. As for billing it is apparently a bit hit and miss as to wether they pull you up about it. Ive known a few people who have had card payment options removed from their accounts permanantly because they used someone elses card ( with permission ) to pay for the account. They tried all sorts to get blizz to sort it and gave up in the end and either quit or used game cards

The best way to get hold of someone elses char seems to be to buy or get the whole account ( or like someone said get them to make a new account and transfer the char there ) and then you take control of it and change the email address and only pay by game card. This is very likely not going to ring any bells on the systems they set up to detect possible trading of accounts.

a lot of stuff goes on behind the scenes now with blizzard, gold buyers beware especially. The systems now track all gold in the mailbox and which accounts it came from and went to. Maybe a month down the line after you got your 5k gold from a seller blizzard discover his account was used for trading gold and they do a search back and trace all the gold he sent out from that account and soon track you down. Just because you didnt get caught in the first few days doesnt mean you can sleep easy anymore ( thats their plan anyway and i dunno of its working as the level of gold spam had increased dramatically... which could mean its working and they are getting desparate or its not working and there are just more of them )

Instances give a lot of XP, trawl through the lower level ones and you'll be racking up the levels in no time.

Plus it helps that there are various extensions that show you exactly how and where to complete quests, and in what order you should do them in to achieve optimal results. I wouldn't recommend using them if it's your first time as it ruins the magic a little, but for alts its a godsend :D
