They make it seem like there are 9 million people subscribing and playing, which is obviously just marketing crud.

You say that but eve has like 100,000 active subscribers (and another 45k active trial accounts) but only 20-30k people are generally on at the same time. So id believe that WoW had 10million active subscribers with arround 50-60 million accounts total.


Also WoW is still growing at an insane rate, just look at internet games shops, WoW is never out of the top 5-10 for top sellers just look at **** Wow expansion is at #5 and the WoW battlechest is at #8, thats simply amazing for a game of its age.

the 9 million users will be users who have registered over time. which ofc includes those who do not play anymore.

Actually its 10million currently ACTIVE accounts, box sales and those who have quit isnt any part of those statistics.

Yep, it's over 9 million paying accounts, and for reference there's over 100 EU English servers alone, in addition to the German, French and Spanish servers
