Hi guys, I just started playing WOW and I've reached level 10 with my druid...
so I need to choose a specialisation. I don't know what to do feral or balance?

cheers!

Hey bud, i just started levelling a druid as well so looked into this. Seems like feral is the way to go atm and just stay in cat form all time :). Mangle > rake>mangle/ferocious bite.

Oh and if you stuck for talents, google, "Feral levelling build 4.01 cataclysm"

feral is the best for levelling, kill things really quick when in cat form, the other two arnt as good tbh, feral does great DPS and is good fun running around as a cat killing things.

Feral used to better due to the lack of down time having to drink to replenish mana as balance was quite mana intensive and a lot of group quest were soloable plus the faster movement speed in cat form.

Might have changed with the cata release and some of the pre cata changes.

I would normally recommend feral (I play feral at 85) but if the massive nerfs that are in the current test patch notes go live you'd probably be better off getting to know the moonkin play style. Thats if you plan to dabble in PVP at all - don't know how it will effect PVE and leveling but the new style for feral will be more burst damage and less damage over time.

The new patch buffs mangle by 120% at least. I don't think we'll see much of a difference to be honest. I like it.

Go feral :D

Feral rocks for levelling - cat form all the way! There's nothing quite like my favourite maneuvre, the Druid Drop - flight form towards your target, drop flight, go into cat in mid-air (protected from falling damage), engage stealth and find yourself behind your target, ready for a Ravage :D

Mind you, it's a bit tougher with Fast Flight Form - tends to catapult you miles if you're not careful :D

I for one will root for moonkin. In solo play I've had no downtime whatsoever. In groups it gets a bit tricky if you aoe a lot and at lower levels when Moonglow and Euphoria are still out of reach.

As for dps...I have yet to see anyone have equal burst to me on boss fights. Troll racial + herbalism ability + nature's grace proc in solar eclipse turns you into a gattling gun. Be warned - you will get aggro if you do this (I'm quite serious too - no tanking class sub level 60 was able to hold the boss against this combo, especially when treants were out as well) :P

Feral > Moonkin

The main reason for this was because many leather items at low level don't have spell power etc...

However... If you have heirloom gear then you can get around this and moonkin is more viable. I personally prefer feral as your cat can move faster and don't need to drink etc...

the patch will be a pain as it removes the ability to shift out of roots, thats the biggest downer, but to druids full stop.
i would go feral but dont be one of these thats stuck in cat form...
if you learn to tank, you dont need to collect any different gear, you will level in dungeons nicely and get in them a lot sooner as a tank. obviously outside questing etc youre able to go cat and do it all fast.

I think you will find that hardly any gear has spell power on it anymore - it is now derived from Intelligence (same way you get AP from Str/Agi) and trust me - there is plenty of Int gear slapped around questing zones/dungeons. Prior to the Cataclysm patch it was a chore, I admit. Now it's a breeze.

Ah yes... This is true... Well pointed out...

My bad, forgot how things have changed with cata... :p
