Ok, I got the complete Wow boxed set for xmas and all my friends have been playing it for some time so hope to join them soon. My question is how to I go about installing the thing!? I assume I add the serial keys to my battlenet account then am not sure where to start with the hard copy's?

Ok maybe i was not clear lol. It has loads of dvd's in the set and I wondered if i set about installing from the original Wow disc to cataclysm i would be wasting my time? Can I not skip certian expansion just to get the quickest route to playing.

No matter what version you install it will have to do a huge update.

add the CD-Keys to a battle.net account then you can use the new Launcher that downloads as you play to install the game.

Heres a link to the download link, like i said every version will update to this version so might aswell save the hassle of CD's

https://eu.battle.net/account/download/

You should install vanilla followed by BC, then WOTLK, then Cataclysm, then launch the game and let it download any patches you need to play.

You can't install normal WoW just from the cata disc, the cata disc justs adds areas and stuff, you still need to install vanilla WoW from disc or download first, then Burning Crusade, then WoTLK

But doing that takes ages, You can skip all the hassle of CD's with the new Launcher.

I really can't imagine that downloading the game will take less time than installing from CD/DVD, obviously dependant on your internet connection but it's very unlikely it would be faster downloading the whole game.

Surely putting Cata in your disk drive and clicking install is the quickest?

Well i did it....

But the cata disc isn't big enough to hold vanilla, TBC, WoTLK, and it self, I could understand if you downloaded the rest, but you can't just do a complete install minus patches from the cata disc on its own

Edit: Just read up, and it seems you can just use the normal cata disc, but it downloads the other content, so sorry for saying you can't guys, should get my facts straight next time

what's you internet connection as you can download an install client from the website and then it will install the whole game for you... no disks... so you can just leave it run over night or what ever... tho it will be many gigs of data xP hence the over night thing xP

it's what i do tho as i cba to sit there changing all the disks and i have a 20mb conn so :)

You can also copy the WoW directory from a friends PC on to an external hard drive, and then just paste it to your PC.

No installation needed, no updates will be needed.

Thats all I do since my connection is pretty crap most of time

i think wow is over rated! i dont see the point in buying a game to then have to pay a monthly subscription! stupid!
