Hey,

Right at the moment I have been playing with a Warlock (level 15) but have a few questions!

I was thinking of having another character, a Priest and concentrating on the dark arts. All my friends want a new character too, but want to be rouges and other characters an Elf would be best as, would an Elf be ok for a Priest?

Next, The Burning Crusade, I only have WOW standard at the moment, is it worth giving Blizzard money now or later for the Burning Crusade?

With the Warlock, what is the best Talents to go with? Demonolog detruction or Affliction?

Thanks for helping out people :)

There are SO MANY guides out there for each class and talent builds. Google up!

As for BC, I'm not really sure. If you want another character may I suggest paladin/Shaman/Druid as they're mixed classes and can be an absolute hoot (I'm most likely biased as they're the only ones I've ever played).

In answer to your question though yes an elf would be fine for a priest.

Get BC now.
Make sure you and your friends have a good mix of classes (i.e. a class that can tank, a class that can heal), so you can go and do instances easily together (depends how many of you there are of course).

For Warlock, the best levelling spec is affliction IIRC? Not played Warlock for ages, but you basically stick DOTS on enemies and use void to tank..very efficient if you pull >1 at once.

As for races, depends on your faction..

I would get BC as soon as you can really, that way you can roll a blood elf priest and have the oh so lovely mana tap/arcane torrent racial, comes in extremely handy for a priest

I take it you mean a Nelf rather than Belf if you're speaking about rolling one without TBC. Personally I think Nelfs are the worst race for alliance priests. I would say Human as they have silghtly better racials compared to Dwarfs, though Draenei trump them both in my opinion but you would need TBC to roll one of them.

Drain tanking (Full Affliction) is the best leveling/farming spec for warlocks - early on just use a succy for extra DPS as the voidwalker is hopeless at tanking, later on get dark pact and have an imp out to act as a mana battery.

I never carry water with me on Full Affliction and can easily Dot and drain tank 4-5 mobs at once.

Dranei have great racials, yep. But for Dwarf/Human I'd go Dwarf for fear ward.

Most important thing is whether you *like* the race :) I only play trolls (well, and one tauren, no troll druids :p).

Agreed Dranei imo would be best, think they get a healing spell racial.

Ok, one more question :D

BC, the trial. In the "normal" WOW trial, you can't give items and get past level 20, does the Burning Crusade trial have the same limit (I obviously by now have the normal WOW game).

Thanks all btw, you are being AMAZINGLY helpful.

Fear Ward isn't that great in TBC, there's very few instances where it'll make things easy for you.

True, having read a bit more (not raided since vanilla, very casual now). I remember the moaning on all those fear-based encounters back then (hi Onyxia  )

I wouldn't worry about getting TBC at this stage of the game. You don't really need to worry about it til you're in your 50's unless you want to roll a Draenai or Blood Elf, and they're not that big of a deal.

As for priests, I'd roll a human. You lose out on fear ward but rep gains will more than make up for that if you get into the awful grindfest of rep in TBC.

Humans have good racials (the bonus to spirit is good for Priests as well), but I'd still say there are plenty of places where fear effects make having Fear Ward an attractive thing to have, PvP being one of them. Also, Desperate Prayer is nice for PvP and Stoneform is very nice for PvP. That and there aren't so many Dwarves about, so you can be a bit different.

Either way, I'd stick with the Warlock. I've got one to level 16 just recently and already it is absurdly overpowered (it can handle 4 mobs at once. Most classes struggle with 2 at low levels).

dont let racial traits dictate your choice, the difference is minimal, choose a character that you like the look of, your gonna be staring at it for the next 2 years lol

I just started out with the Drunai, but I just had a horrible thought.

How difficult is it for my friends to find me who are playing as humans and dwarfs?

They are like level 22 or something...

*EDIT*

Don't worry, I asked a wizzard to open a portal for me, I am amazed how nice people are in this game.

I just whispered someone randomly who was in a different city (I didn't know them at all!) and they came to me, and opened a portal to where I needed to go!

If you're still interested in the warlock, this is my current build:

http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/b...012000000000000000000000505000500000000000000

The only thing I might change for someone leveling would be going to demo instead of destruction for the last 15 points, as they are nice for soloing. With that build, I only eat or drink if I do a really stupid pull or if I'm killed somehow.

I wouldn't worry too much about racial talents, as you won't know enough about the game to make them worth it. Wait until you've played for a while, and understand exactly what they all mean and are willing to go with a race you may not like as much just for the racials ;).
