WoW - I'm big enough to admit when i'm wrong!

It's -very- moreish. You keep going 'ah, I'll just do one more quest', but the lure of personal character development and progression in WoW is far stronger than any other game out at the minute.

I played it for about 2 weeks on and off, then cancelled my subscription.

Prefer Guild Wars TBH.

Although my favorite Online game at the moment is BF2. :D

Plus at lv 70 it's better than ever - there's loads and loads of 5-man content, battlegrounds, the arena, raid instances.

There's much more variety to WoW these days, which makes it a great time to start playing. It certainly craps all over the game we were all playing a year or two ago - especially in the expansion. If you have a few good mates to play with then WoW is up there with the best gaming experiences around imo.

yeah i was like that for the first 20 days, and then it just got really boring!

The quests are good but thats it, PvP is ok but there is no realy depth after that.

Its a beginners MMORPG, i would prefer it to be more like Ultima, now that game has depth!

Dont worry...you be bored by level 25.

I was. I played for a month, got addicted and got to the mid-20's, then decided it was going to be samey from then on and there was more to life, so quit before they started charging.

I only started playing 3 weeks ago. I d/l the 10 day trial and after I found out 3 mates at work played it and one was a lvl40 person and he sent me some gold. 25 to be exact I had to buy the full game so I could read my mail in game. Thus collecting my gold off my mate. Since then there are 9 of us playing it from work. Its great fun.

Highly addictive. One more level. etc etc. I find I collect quests and try one out. If i fail because of the mob lvl are a few higher than mine I will go grinding for a bit to get to the next level, then I find myslef back in a different place because my mate just signed in so we group and do some stuff. I end up leveling up and think. Oh I can do that quest now. Go back to quest area complete quests hand them in and find out im only a few bars of next level. Damn, might aswell grind for 10 mins to up one. Rinse and repeat.

To be honest, I'd take that as a warning to give it up now before you're even more addicted :)

Asheron's Call did it for me - messed up my education and social life for two years. Even now I'm tempted to play it again unless I stop myself.

Or...erm...duh - be sensible?

i've never played WOW and I doubt I will. I realised this after writing a paper on computer game addiction last month.
:)

i didnt write a paper on it but thats what I thought last year when viewing the Leroy Jenkins video.. What a waste of time. All those icons and talking about "Mana" etc.. sounded too boring..

I was SO mistaken.

someone say my name?

WoW is a very good game for what it is, its basically MMO-lite, great for beginners or more experienced people looking for a place to stay until the next big release. I refer to the game as a gateway MMO, sucks people in with simple addictive gameplay, then leads to the more "hardcore" MMO's with tons more depth and life sucking potential. :D

I still think it could be one of my favorite MMO's, if only there was more depth to the game, and more open/none-instanced PvP... theres just nothing to do.

what exactly do you do in wow?

First you make you own character. You have two options as to what "side" you want to be on.

Alliance-The good guys (Humans, Gnomes, Dwarfs and Elf)
Horde-The bad guys (Orc, Undead, Troll and Tauren)

So you choose your side and your race. Name him/her select what server you want to play on.

Servers have different types of gaming experience. PvE-player versus the environment. You cant get killed by players of the opposite faction. PvP- player versus player. Same things to do but can get attacked by other players while doing your own thing and get really annoyed too. Thats war for you.

PvP is the best as you can carry on as normal but when you get to a higher level the PvP really kicks in.

You start out in trial area. Basicly its like a training camp. There is a few tutorials in there thats shows you how to do combat and collect things of dead mobs (mobs=NPC usualy monsters, humanoids you have to kill to complete quests)

Once you complete the training area you normaly have to take a note to someone in another area. This is to move you on to progress your character.

The whole idea is to get the best weapons, equipment and spells etc for your "toon" (character) and get it to lvl60. You can go to lvl70 but will need the Burning Crusades axpansion pack) You get all the good stuff by completeing quests, kiling monsters etc. You are always selling stuff you Loot to merchants or even other people. Always buying new stuff to outfit your toon.

Theres a lot to do it best to try the 10 day trial. Hope this helpsyou alittle bit.

Hold on just a minute! The Horde are not the bad guys, the Alliance are! It's all a matter of perspective, really, but the Alliance are not nice people - especially the Humans!

And if you have The Burning Crusade expansion, the Alliance include Draenei and the Elves are Night Elves. The Horde have a new race, Blood Elves.

I think that's exactly why it's so popular, it's casual-gamer friendly. People don't have to sink their lives into it to have fun, though granted a lot do.

You didn't see most of the game :( It only starts to get good once you're up in the levels, and this is usually true of any MMO.

I restarted WoW a few weeks ago after I bought TBC, big mistake, I should ding lvl 40 over the weekend but my social life has gone to pot :(
