WoW is a very good game for what it is, its basically MMO-lite, great for beginners or more experienced people looking for a place to stay until the next big release. I refer to the game as a gateway MMO, sucks people in with simple addictive gameplay, then leads to the more "hardcore" MMO's with tons more depth and life sucking potential. :D

I still think it could be one of my favorite MMO's, if only there was more depth to the game, and more open/none-instanced PvP... theres just nothing to do.
I left EVE online after 3 years to play WoW. I found it a lot more fun to play than EVE
For me the polish and content for wow is fantastic, while the quests do feature a lot of kill x10 spiders etc, a lot of do have good stories and if you take time to read the quests and think of them in the context of the world and the backstory then they can be very interesting :)

Im addicted to this bloody game too and get sick of it. Im able to quit for long periods and get on with life but someone from the guild always pulls me back and pays for me so at least im not paying to waste my life. Got to 70 in a week and got the 3.5 set and stuff....put my rogue and alts on ....the all famous auction site to try and escape blizzard.

To be honest, I'd take that as a warning to give it up now before you're even more addicted :)

Asheron's Call did it for me - messed up my education and social life for two years. Even now I'm tempted to play it again unless I stop myself.

Truth.

This is why most people slate these games. Unfortunately, those who haven't been through it get sucked into them and then defend them staunchly until the day the finally kick their habit and realise what these games actually are - grinds. Evil grinds with no end in sight.

:)

I grinded through Ultima, EQ, Lineage 2 and my ultimate poison... DAOC (Camelot). Never ever ever ever again. I'd rather become addicted to crack - it's far less damaging.

WoW is great and can be pretty addictive. I've always maintained that if I cancel a social event to play WoW, that's the day I'll be cancelling my account.

I agree the game is very polished, mainly because they've taken tried, tested and proven aspects from other MMO's and implemented them in a fashion thats easily learnable for the first timers. I've been playing MMO's since 1998 so i've seen it all before personally.

Can't help but think it could've been so much more for me if they took a few risks and added more content to the game (not quests). I just couldn't help but feel like I was wrapped in foam with a GM stood next to me purring softly while holding my hand. :p

yep its addictive.

but its also a lot of fun, esp in a good guild with some good people.

i manage it and life. i think !

BC has added some cracking content imho. its brought the fun back for me again. maybe that will only last x number of months but atm really enjoying the level to 70.

worst part is keeping up with some people who seem to play 24/7 and wanna go raid all the end game lvl 70 places !

Agreed, its hard. Most people in my raid team (we have 2 now due to Blizzard reducing numbers ) have complete tier4 sets already (Kara, Gruuls Lair, Magtheridon etc). Ive just passed +1400 spell damage (Shadow), and I've not got the highest in my guild :(
