wow, I'm posting in CC!! Micro / HTPC case recommendations

I think having different feet on the back is showing more attention to detail than putting the same feet on all corners.

It's unlikely we'd be having this discussion if all the feet were the same as the ones on the back. You're never going to see the back feet, if knowing they are there bothers you, you have bigger problems than a media PC can help you out with.

It's not something that would bother you or put you off the case, its just about how much attention to detail there is. High quality products hi-fi equipment tend to have circular feet all round, which is where this all stems from.

So by your logic, if all the feet were metal-effect then that means the case is a higher quality, because if the designers think about the feet, they think about the enclosure more as well?

No. It shows they have paid attension to small details that may not seem that important to everyone, but adds to the level of case quality. It doesn't ensure the case is good quality, it only shows the detail.

It seems that via your logic that if you've never going to see it, what does it matter? Well in that case, why bother having metal effect feet at all, why do we have Cathodes, LED's inside cases etc... Well clearly there is a market out there, and each manufacturer is trying to create a case as close to perfect as possible. Using metal feet only adds to the effect.

Put it this way, having a car with a nice engine bay won't nessisarily do anything or prove that the car is well designed, but it certainly adds to the level of detail. If you like your engine bay clean and your car as close to the perfection you want, then you might think that too have all metal feet are important. If you don't mind a grubby engine which rarely see's the light of day other than the service, then you won't care!

To me, just because it won't be seen doesn't mean it isn't important. Sure - feet ARN'T important, but they show the level of thought. I hope you understand what I mean. ;)

That NSK2400 is what i will be using for my future htpc build when i can afford it, although look for the fusion has an inbuilt vfd, and with antec's prices it should be a bargain i hope.

In my eyes it does not directly equate to higher quality, although if these 'corners' get cut a lot on a cases design then the quality and appeal of the case goes, sacrificing 2 metal feet to make the HDD bay have rubber mounts is a fair trade to keep the price the same, but if you can have them it most certainly makes you feel better about your purchase.

It just makes you perceive the quality to be higher with 4 metal feet, you know then that the case has had no corners cut and is set to be the best; but if the price is right 2 feet are perfectly fine, it is only cosmetic afterall.

I'd be inclined to agree with you if a new case company had come along and made this product, things like that would indicate what we're looking at. But it's an Antec, and we know they are quality already.

So youve agreed with me. :p

I was aiming my post at that angle, just if Antec had the 2 more feet, it would make you perceive the Antec quality to be higher.

Hopefully there will be no issues, but if there are Antec would sort them. :D
