Hi,

Sorry for another WoW ?? but I would like some advise. I'm thinking of starting WoW again from fresh but the last time I played was before BC release!! What has changed since then in a brief summary. I'm looking to treat the game as a single player solo experience to start to limit my time and just enjoy leveling up. I enjoy grouping but expect most ppl PL the first 60+ lvls now ??

I was going to pickup BC for cheap in town for the 30 days do I get access to the improvments such as view distance increase from RotLK or do I need to buy that one aswell.

Also what's the best way to install off the CD's/DVD's then patch or just download the latest client?

And lastey help me pick a solo friendly class (all of them :)). I was thinking Pally or Warrior are these still fun to play.

Thanks!!

If ever a newbie asks me "who should I be?" I always answer paladin or druid.

Druid even more so because no one I know that has used a druid for a main has rerolled, sure they have alts but they just respec their main rather than having a different main class.

Druids can be Melee DPS (and sealth) healers, tanks, and casters. Plus of course can fly and the like. But I think either Paladin or Druids are great first time choices, and really help you get groups and solo stupidly easy.

Correct about the Pally and Druids, they seem the be the most versatile classes now, can dps, heal and buff, theres dual spec now also, u pay 1000g and u can switch between 2 different builds.

I had a Pally years ago, was crap at the time for anything bar healing lol. Then I levelled a warrior, then they nerfed fury. Quit 2 years ago,

Back a month or so, rolled a rogue. Love it. When I came back to wow same thoughts as the OP, solo and not to put in hours on hours of time. Started off ok, now I'm racing to get to 80 lol. Getting those wow morning afters lol.

I have to admit I really enjoy it. Stealting and being able to run around undetected, pickpocket etc etc.

I was levelling a hunter before the rogue, stopped at 49. Cant believe how ridiculously easy soloing as a hunter is. I like my melee combat hardly any corpse runs compared to warrior (due to vanish, and shadowmeld if your NElf).

I'm pretty sure one of us is willing to refer you as a friend? you get some some free playing time and triple xp till 60? And we get a free month subscription when u pay ur first sub :)

retribution paladin

prot pld *** with the right build ofcourse ;)

Druid even more so because no one I know that has used a druid for a main has rerolled, sure they have alts but they just respec their main rather than having a different main class.
i did druid isnt that fun but they can do everything often better than the classes the druid forms imitate.

something about them just doesnt fit well with me.

i druid > warlock > now pld

still use the warlock but the druid is pretty much only used for the JC daily and to send myself enchants.

druids are nowhere near as good as paladins at soloing btw.

Yeah because you lose the armor when you go out of form :p

Still, I never liked a druid. Tried one a few times, but so many people do like them, I think it is the fact they can do so much stuff so easily.

I think tbh druid as they seam to be taking over the tanking in instances now from what instances i have done as far as fun char to play that in my view would be rogue.I have been playing warrior up till lvl 70 then lvled a rogue and love playing it in combat spec just dps all the way lol not much on your shoulders like other chars just bash stuff lol. love it.

Yeah baby! I wish I rolld a rogue all those years ago. Though saying that, on the server I was on anyway at the time, rogues werent getting much love when it came to 5 man instances. Could only CC humans, and most favoured mage and hunters for crowd control. Lol, the group I always ran with, my fury warrior took up the dps slot, so no rogues.

Hope people don't mind if i'm going off topic for a bit. I have a question, can I install WOW on more than one machine i.e. on my desktop and laptop.

Of course you can.

You just can't play on them at the same time with the same account.

Something useful though, download and install on one system, the copy the *entire* folder over to another system and double click the exe. It will run fine, to save you from 2 installs.

Thanks for all the replies. I spent way to long on this game last night but really enjoyed it. Rolled a Warrior Dwarf on a PvE server (Kadgar?). I unfortunetly didn't check back here first so didn't see the advise about Druid or Pally :(

I'm enjoying the Warrior mind you and having never played Alliance before it feels like a new game. Found the tram in Ironforge to Stormwind aswell and was like wtf is this!!! Great fun.

Are the any reasons to stop my Warrior (lvl 10 currently)? Are they gimped later on in any way?? I could do with a gun or bow for pulling but apart from that its been easy to play so far.

No real reason to stop the character if you like it. The only great thing a paladin or druid have is:

A: They can heal as a main spec (and druid can do long range damage too).
B: If you heal while being attacked especially as a paladin it can make soloing easier.

Warriors and DK's are the worst tanks right now... most agree that it is Paladin/druid -> Warrior - DK. I haven't tanked in ages but apparently quite a few guilds don't let DK's tank now because of the massive burst damage they take after all their cooldowns were nerfed, their armor and health reduced.

Warriors are apparenttly going to get "fixed" at some point, so I imagine DK's will too.

Warriors are good at damage and Tanking, but apparently they are the class Blizzard wants to "fix" most of all at the moment. They want to do something about their rage mechanics and a few other bits and pieces. I have always said play what you prefer though, warriors aren't terrible by any means.

For what it is worth, when I first started I used a Shadow Priest and my friend leveled as a Warrior. Had a really good time.

Paladin definitely, very faceroll, and when you get to endgame you have the full selection of whichever role you decide to favour. If not, I would say hunter, as it's easy to play, and also just as fun. This is from someone who suffers from Alt-itis!

I have an 80 warrior but the fun soon wore off. Prefer DPSing on my hunter, tanking on my pala. Don't worry about pulling, you'll get a ranged taunt and you should have charge by now.

Thx I will roll a Pally to lvl 10 to see how it feels later tonight then make a final decision :) I just cant see myself playing a druid so will prob pass on that class this time.

Should I bother with trade skills or leaving it for an alt when I have some spare time/cash?

I'm thinking of picking WoW up again to level a druid, only class I havn't really played and they seem to be pretty good atm.

Someone can scroll of blabla me if they want (no guarentee i'll sub though), got some spare time to kill!
