WOW Trial Help tips and friends needed

I don't know if you've noticed by now, but not every race can have every class. To be a hunter, you need to go Tauren, Troll, Dwarf or Night Elf.

Yes, time stops when you play ;).

I just started this myself a few days ago (and made the same mistake of downloading the US version and wondering why it wouldn't work...). I'm up to a level 8 Night Elf Druid, and it's starting to make some kind of sense now - spent ages wandering around not knowing what to do to start with.

What realm are you on?

Play on a pvp server, you will seriously regret it if you decide to buy the full game and are stuck on low population pve servers.

Agreed. You'll learn a lot faster and have much more fun. But on the flipside there'll be some annoying moments that you won't get on PvE servers. You'll not regret it.

What exactly do you learn more quickly on a pvp server? To never quest in Stranglethorn Vale? The only difference between a normal and pvp server is that on a normal server you can quest without being followed around by high level kids with nothing else to do.

Jokester - I don't think there are either. Darkspear is one of the newest ones, and it is now full. A new pve server is only opened for about every 5 pvp ones, and they fill up extremely quickly.

He'll learn how to PvP quicker, of course if he's not that interested in that side of things it'll put him off the game for life, especially as you say when he reaches STV.

I'm not sure what it's like now since the Honor changes, but when BGs opened it ruined PvP for me as it meant that all you got outside of them was ganking. Put me off the PvP servers, you get all the benefits of PvP on a PvE server minus the ganking, which will waste a lot of your time running from the graveyard and stopping you from questing.

Umm, why the dislike of PvP servers? Had some bad experiences I guess.

I've got 3 chars up to 60 and 4 or so to level 30-50 and I can count the amount of times i've been "followed" about by higher levels on both hands. If a level 60 is outside of Ironforge/Orgri they'll either be on their way to a raid entrance, grinding rep somewhere, or on the odd occasion herbing or mining and they'll completely ignore you. The only time you'll be consistantly targetted is between level 50-60 and start grinding in the areas where people are farming gold.

A 1 armed blind monkey could grind up to level 60 with no difficulty, personally anything that breaks the monotomy for me is good. And STV is great fun! :p

Of course it all depends on the person. If he has no interest in PvP and just wants PvE then obviously its best if he didn't try it. Althought at level 60 the PvP aspect of the server goes away for the most part, as battlegrounds have destroyed World PvP.

As said above, obviously he'll learn to PvP faster, and most likely increase his responses and to understand the survival aspects of his character more. But thats a different discussion. :p

Full does not mean anything, when i was on emerald dream it was classed as "full" yet there was two horde raiding guilds. Now you compare that to a pvp server where there can be 10 even 15+ naxx raiding guilds on horde side. You couldnt even find a group for any instances at all, and i know for a fact this isnt limited to this server, horde populations on pve servers are dreadfull.

Whatever you do, dont play on a pve server.

Ye another vote for PVP servers. Getting jumped on by some dude with a chip on his shoulder happens (wen out in the big wide world, not too infrequently either) but its not a serious issue - doesnt do anything negative just annoying sometimes :) Gives a healthy level of hatred for the other side too :D

What PVP server do you guys play on?

Never tried the PVP mode before I might give it a look....

Im on Al'Akir [Horde], one of the oldest servers out there. Definately wouldnt recommend it for new players as all the guilds are pretty much a closed shop, accepting only level 60s with endgame experience. Many would not be helpful to people with little knowledge of the game, help would be extremely limited if at all.

To the new people starting out I think going to a PVP server im my opinion is the best option even if you are a beginner, and you may not want any pvp action right now you may in the future. For example some mates at work are on a PVE server and now the pvp system has been updated it takes them 45mins to get into one battleground, where as the average wait time on my server is less that a minute at any time of the day (I was on at 4am xmas morning too, never had to wait)

Dont be worried about getting killed by high levels, high level chars are way too busy prepping for raids, farming for various bits and bobs and dont often venture into lower level areas [if you stay in your freindly zones, enemies cannot attack you anyway] I certainly wouldnt step off my epic mount to kill a lowbee unless it yeilded honor :>

Have fun in Azeroth.

Are you kidding? Fury Warriors, Retribution Paladins, and Shadow Priests can all do massive damage. It's just a matter of speccing correctly.

Yes, I would imagine that a beginner will be able to pick up the most damaging spec when they're trying to decide if they like the game or not at level 10. Perhaps you should have read my whole post.

I did, thanks.

You made a blanket statement that the said classes don't do much damage at the start of the game. This may be true but then none of the other classes do either. Decent damage only comes when starting to spec talents, and I was simply stating that the 3 classes you mentioned can all do hefty damage contrary to what you said :)
