Well I got rid of my rubbish 400w psu and got an ocz psu. Wow the pc doesn't freeze and it's so quite. Best 60 quid EVER spent. One happy bunny!!!

Thanks OCUK :D

PSU is the most important thing to get right :) like the engine of a car. doesn't matter what else you throw inside, if the PSU isn't up to the job nothing will work :)

Like this man says, the one thing you NEVER skimp on when building a system is the PSU.
A crappy one will give you no end of nightmares :D

On your advice I just bought a cheap second hand Socket A for my i5. Can't wait to see the benchies :p

Seriously, it's important to get it right. A lot of people skimp on the PSU because they feel it's a lot of outlay for no affect to overall performance but in reality, it's best have a PC that actually works.

Indeed, the amount of problems that you get if you have a low quality PSU is laughable. Lots of people make the same mistake of spending next to nothing on them, but then realise soon after :)

I got a coolermaster one thinking it would be "alright" it powers the rig well enough but omfg what a noise.

That's another thing on my ever increasing list to fix.....

what model you got? ive got a coolermaster 1000w one and i cant hear it at all?

Spent £100 on my Corsair 750w. I don't need the power, but it's vitally important to have a stable PSU with a range of connectors and room for upgrading.

hi
i have a dell 750w which came with my xps 625 and i went to plug in a set of dual blue cathodes and when i switched them of at the swith it like shut my computer down without actually powering down the pc:confused::confused:
i dont know wots happening?

i have 2 ati radeons, 4670's in crossfire and a soundblaster xfi,
2x 120 fans
and 2x optical drives
i wasnt shure if i was using too much power?
(didnt know if you were talkin to me or the one above?)

anyone suggest a quite and efficient psu unit?
Then wait for Seasonic X-650 to come available.
You just can't get quieter than fanless and at low temperature under low loads (up to 300+W) it operates fanless because in practise 90+ efficiency makes it produce very little heat.

i have a dell 750w
Doesn't really tell anything about its quality.

The thing is, £60 is really very little when you consider how powerful a PC PSU is...

If you wanted to get a 800W SMPS for an amplifier, you'd be looking at at least £100...

Wow I kid you not I had a q tec 400psu!!!!

The psu I got was a 600w. It's on the offers. Until today I think :)

the link posted for the psu. Ain't the on I got. It was less than 60 600w and modular. Mod extreme range or something like that. Can't post a link on my I phone

Q-TEC :D
Good one Kainz.

For anyone who's wondering, Q-Tec are the biggest bag of poo ever.
Dont buy one, dont touch one, hell, just dont even look at one

Id feel safer running my PC off of 5000 AA batteries.
