I played WoW a few years ago before and for a few months after TBC was released. I'm getting urges to play again... which of course is never a good thing!

I was wondering how the game feels for those still playing? Having played other MMORPGs I've seen the numbers gradually decrease or the features start to get too repetitive/rubbish.

Is WoW going the same way or are they managing to keep it enjoyable all the way through? I'd be starting again so would obviously have a lot of leveling to do!

To be honest I have the feeling it's just nostalgia kicking in and will actually be pretty boring once I start it up again! I just noticed it's £1.50 for a 14 day trial in high-street stores and considered it...

The sooner I get Xbox Live and save myself the better I think!

Like anything really, if you want to hate it, you will. It's not perfect but better than any other MMO out there by miles. Raiding has become more accessible and certainly easier, although you have your hard modes which is a nice challenge. As far as leveling and questing go, I hate it, so would be the wrong person to ask. I just rushed to 80 and now do 2 days a week of raiding and take 5 days off from WoW. Balance is the key :D

Northrend (Wotlk) is pretty good fun, lots of the same old 'collect 10 badger testicles' quests whilst leveling, but theres also some new types of questing to help break it up.

Raiding content is also a lot different from what you did last in original WoW (if you did any), a lot more forgiving so far, but good stuff.

As always with WoW / any MMO, your experience depends a lot on getting into decent community / guild :)

If you know someone that is playing I think they can send you a reserection thing which gives you like 10 days free

I went back to it recently and did really enjoy it for two months but its got a little boring as my friends arent playing as much.

I think if you play with friends it can be great fun but on your own its a bit like playing a single player game but paying monthly for it.

I have got to the stage where i feel i should be playing it as ive paid for the month but Arma2 and bloodbowl are keeping be busy.

Do the trial and see for yourself.

I kept feeling that as well, but then signed up again and was bored within minutes.... Now I dont bother :p

I still get a similar feeling for an old MMO that I was addicted to back in the day (Asheron's Call) - signing up generally leads to boredom, but if it doesn't you're opening yourself up to a whole world of pain in the form of MMO addiction. Avoid :p

I signed back up, but Stormrage, once a server you had to queue on, was utterly dead.

I barely saw anyone while levelling, chat was certainly rare. The only lively place was Icecrown, and that was only for people yelling for the daily group quest.

That, and the fact that my mates only logged on to raid, meant I quit again. I know a lot of people get shot down for saying this..... but its just not as fun as it used to be in the 'Vanilla' days!

I'm on Stormrage. Alliance side. :D

On 2 occasions I've been tempted to go back to it, and on both I've realised its a mistake within a few hours even. Not even just the gameplay but the fact I know it will consume me again!

I'd say give it a miss.. I was a big fan of WOW but TBC was bad and although WOLTK was better it's really not a patch on original. For PvP the classes have been unbalanced, for PVE it's been made idiot proof. AOE this, AOE that, really poor, the days of class requirements, mage sheeps, rogue saps etc have been forgotten.. it's now a case of an AOE tank pulling groups and AOE'ing down, even rogues have been given AOE. Don't even mention DK's that's the new huntard class, seriously annoying and zero skill requirement.

You might actually enjoy it for a little bit but it wont last.. OK some of Ulduar etc is a step in the right direction but it's not enough. Generally it's watered down and unchallenging.. I cancelled my sub to it.

I'd love to play WOW for the first time again. Truly was epic back in 2005/2006 with the Open PVP battles and venturing through Molten Core and working your way into Onyxia's cave after the Jailbreak quest. I loved it.

That epic feeling can only be experienced once. while the new content is awsome it never kept me hooked like it used to. I'll probably play again when the next expansion arrives.

If you've not played Wrath I'd say go for it. You can always cancel in a few months if you grow tired of it.

Edit. After playing WOW for a long time you pretty much miss out on any other games :) I've still got games on the shelf I never got around to playing because I'd rather be collecting boar dung in Hellfire Peninsula.

wow has got very boring lately, i quit about a month ago and havent been back, the game is way too easy now, and its all tuned to the casual player instead of the hardcore. u can get epics anywhere now instead of workin for em :P and the raids are stupidly easy

I used to be on Stormrage about 1 year ago before transfering, on the alliance side (was in Flameon) Nelf called Stride.

Server was pretty active back then, however i have no idea now

Raids are stupidly easy? You've obviously done no hard modes then.

Yogg-Saron without any watchers is the hardest encounter in World of Warcraft yet. (I've been playing since pre-tbc too)

It's in an OK state, I only play because I'm in the best guild on our server and some of the people are really fun to play with. A few of us made our 10 man raid end because we kept blowing people up with bomb bots before Mimiron. :D Tricks of the Trade & Misdirect with bombs for the win!
