After the game constantly crashing yesterday i decided to re-install this morning, all patches are upto date and all my drivers are as well

Started the game up and nothing, again...so i turn my firewall off (COMODO) and the game runs fine.

So put my firewall back on and try again, not a think crahses on a black screen and thats it.

So my firewall is not letting the game load, although i have told it that it is an OK application...would rather not play for long amounts of time without my firewall being on really...anyone have any ideas?

Will post this up in the PC Games section as well, as it maybe WOW not liking COMOD or visa versa

would rather try and work out why this one wont let it run before i just pack it in and go to another one

Oh ok, maybe try searching the publisher's forums and the WoW offical forums? Chances are one of the other 10 million people playing has had the same problem and ranted on either of the forums about it!

If the game is actually crashing then I would assume its more likely to be a software conflict with the firewall than traffic being blocked, wow normally just drops you from the game if you cant connect properly rather than crash.

yeah, like i said it works fine without the firewall...but i have been playing the 10day trial and its been fine with that

I used to have a similar problem using NOD32 years ago, that after each patch update WoW would break again. It was to do with version control on the firewall. Even though I had added WoW as a valid application it was monitoring the version. As soon as an update was applied it would block it again. I basically had to remove and re-add WoW after each patch upgrade as for some reason it couldn't cope with the version changes. Other apps updated and worked fine though which was the strange thing.

Let me know if you get it working. I did exactly what that forum post you linked suggests a few months back, and couldn't get it to work. Was pinging at 2000ms+ all the time.

well there is an update for COMODO so im going to uninstall that and download the newest and give that a go :) will let you know if that works

well its all sorted now :) uninstalled COMODO and downloaded the setup file form their website again and everything is running fine now :)
