WRC 9

How is this compared to 6,7? As good as dirt 2.0? See you can pick it up for 20 quid now, im still playing dirt 2.0 from release though.

WRC 8 was a huge improvement over 7. Everyone agreed.
WRCn 8 was the point at which the series really got its act together.

I love 9. I much prefer 9 over 8.
I dont enjoy playing WRC 8, having played WRC 9.
The handling in WRC 9 feels notably better in my opinion.

Although dirt 2.0 and WRC 9 feel different, Id give both a 5/5, because both of them are just astonishingly good, compared to everything else out there and what has come before. They both feel like properly polished, grown up and well refined titles.

Yes, dirt 2.0 feels a little floaty, but not too floaty. It feels wonderful!
WRC 9 may feel a little different, but it definitely deserves top marks in my book.

I would put both dirt 2.0 and WRC 9 on the same pedastal.
Id label that pedastal "The two best modern rally games available. Get them both!"

I cant decide which I like better, and Im really happy with that.
I like both the career/progression and the actual driving experience/physics of both.

Its also fantastic owning both, if you can afford to get both.
Being able to change between titles was something I really enjoyed doing.

Tried going back to Dirt 1, didnt like it.
Tried going back to WRC 8, didnt like it (due to feel of handling).
I also didnt enjoy going back to dirt 4, after trying Dirt 2.0 (and WRC 9).

Has to be a big thumbs up for Dirt 2 and WRC 9 for me.
Get both if you can.

WRC 9 is definitely a milestone in terms of a fantastic new physics handling model which I hope will be a par and a standard we will never sink below again. Its just sublime!

Also, Im not enjoying dirt 5 as much as the more grown up 'rally sims' have become so good and so much fun, I find my enjoyment of the arcade titles like dirt 5 waning, compared.

The driving I did in WRC 9 was amongst the very best and most fun.... possibly that I have ever had. I really enjoyed the hours I put into that title.
Hope that helps.

I've actually got 5,6 and 7 in my steam lib and that was some of the main reasons none of them have over 20 mins gameplay, the steering was dodgy and so we're the camera angles couldn't seem to stay on the road, then dirt 2 came out and have been playing that ever since.

I feel the same with dirt 5 and project cars 3 as well, didn't want to go try another new one to be disappointed again,

Judy watched a review on YouTube and looks like they've added a management side into it like f12020.

Think I'll go buy it and get it installed.

The first time I played WRC 8 was after playing WRC 9.
Got a wheel, and I just felt a strong sense of... man, I just cant play this. At all.

You wont be dissapointed with WRC 9, it feels great!
Whereas WRC 8 will just grate on your nerves (was my experience!)

dont you guys mean wrc 8 ? that seems to be the latest version i can access on steam, currently £14, £22 for the deluxe edition, is that the version you are talking about ?
We're talking about how much better WRC 9 is, than WRC 8.
WRC 9 is not available on steam. It probably will be available on steam eventually, but right now you cant get WRC 9 on steam. (that was the case at launch anyway).
Seriously tho, skip WRC 8, 9 feels much better.
The games look the same in terms of progression system, graphics.
I felt WRC 8 felt... frustrating.
And WRC 9 felt closer to blasting through an automotive rally heaven.

WRC 9 is tempting me, haven't bought one since WRC 2 Extreme. Been playing Richard Burns Rally with the Rallysimfans plugin and I'm just spoilt for choice. Will pick up WRC later, can never have too many rally games IMO.

ah ok, thanks, do you use pedals and wheel ? would it be fine on a controller ?
There is a strong sense of yes, you can play with a controller. Yeah, you can learn to polish your technique and do really well.
Ive seen some amazing footage of people rallying perfectly fine with a controller. You learn how. You can if you decide you are going to make the most of it.

Rallying with a controller is like walking without shoes. Your feet will toughen up and you'll be fine in the end once youve adjusted.

The experience of rallying with a wheel and pedal is nicer, more precise and more consistent.

To say you cant rally with a controller is not fair. In some games where you can see what the top drivers used (pad or wheel) there is always one person somewhere right at the top of the leaderboards who used a pad.

In my view, those people who are at the VERY top of the leaderboards are usually quite into racing. They didnt just stop by for a few hours of play. Top racers often buy wheels because racing is often a hobby for them. To say that you cant be at the very top of the leaderboards if you use a controller is simply not true. But I like the fact that there is always a few people at the very top who use a controller, which proves you can get as good as your own limitations allow you to get, on a pad.

I feel of all the racing games, the type most forgiving and suited to pad is probably Rally. Personal opinion. Dont let the fact that you dont have a wheel stop you from buying Dirt 2.0 or WRC 9.

However, if youre thinking of buying a wheel, its so worth it!

The general consensus (having read plenty of pad vs wheel discussions) is a little more accuracy/consistency with a wheel. You can become a formidable opponent and a competent racer with a pad.

Looks a really good game but it's unplayable for me at the moment seems to be so stuttery all the time, is there any settings in epic to check for as I've never used epic before, I've checked it's running off the gpu as it was set for the Integrated to start with but still so jumpy

I bought WRC 8 when it came out but I could never get on with setting up the wheel and pedals and the feeling in the game sadly, and have only played Dirt Rally 2 since.
I didnt like the feel of WRC8.
WRC 9 is a totally fixed and perfected WRC8. The games look similar, the look of 9 is very good. And just feels soooo much better than 8.
If you have not tried 9, do not shut the door on it.
My biggest worry is that 10 will hopefully be as good as 9, in that WRC10 will hopefully retain what feels so right about car handling in 9.

Its been 6 months since I read about WRC, but arent codies taking over the WRC9 title?
I wished they left the series with the team who built 9, as they know the game and got it spot on when producing wrc9.
