ah ok, thanks, do you use pedals and wheel ? would it be fine on a controller ?
There is a strong sense of yes, you can play with a controller. Yeah, you can learn to polish your technique and do really well.
Ive seen some amazing footage of people rallying perfectly fine with a controller. You learn how. You can if you decide you are going to make the most of it.
Rallying with a controller is like walking without shoes. Your feet will toughen up and you'll be fine in the end once youve adjusted.
The experience of rallying with a wheel and pedal is nicer, more precise and more consistent.
To say you cant rally with a controller is not fair. In some games where you can see what the top drivers used (pad or wheel) there is always one person somewhere right at the top of the leaderboards who used a pad.
In my view, those people who are at the VERY top of the leaderboards are usually quite into racing. They didnt just stop by for a few hours of play. Top racers often buy wheels because racing is often a hobby for them. To say that you cant be at the very top of the leaderboards if you use a controller is simply not true. But I like the fact that there is always a few people at the very top who use a controller, which proves you can get as good as your own limitations allow you to get, on a pad.
I feel of all the racing games, the type most forgiving and suited to pad is probably Rally. Personal opinion. Dont let the fact that you dont have a wheel stop you from buying Dirt 2.0 or WRC 9.
However, if youre thinking of buying a wheel, its so worth it!
The general consensus (having read plenty of pad vs wheel discussions) is a little more accuracy/consistency with a wheel. You can become a formidable opponent and a competent racer with a pad.
