click launch in vr (game showing on desktop must be set top windowed otherwise it doesn't launch, thanks @RevBillyG )

what you end up with is a ton of fun :D

Video on the upload in headset view is not stretched out and doesn't show menu views, i was on an xbox controller as well

Some folks (myself included) are finding that the game stutters every 3-4 seconds. If that happens, move the desktop focus away from the game on desktop (I just bring the mod window into focus), controllers will still work but you'll lose the ability to navigate the menus. The stutters will be gone while inrace though.

I'm hoping this will be fixed but I read that the mod author isn't having this issue so it might be hard for him to track down.

UPDATE: Possible fix for stuttering. Start the mod, apply the settings you want, save then exit the mod. Afterwards start the game from Steam (making sure to choose the 64bit version). I've not tried this yet but will have a go tonight.

Did you have any success with this?
I got it working initially but after the first go it now stutters all the time and also i cant control the menu in game.
Ive noticed on my virtual desktop overlay that the stutter is every second and the fps drops from 80 to 73, straight back to 80 and then straight back down to 73
The very brief go i had was superb though and looked really good.

Alas not :(
I have to start the game and get the next race ready. Then goto my desktop and make sure the game is not in focus, switch back to VR and race. Then it's perfectly smooth. After the race has finished, I need to go back to the desktop and put the game back in focus to navigate the menus. Not ideal :/

I've got a 9800x3d
I haven't had chance to test but it could be something to do with having the game in focus etc
I should be able to get some time over the next few days to do some testing
The first time I tried the mod it worked perfectly and very smooth on ultra settings but since exiting and trying again I'm getting these inconsistent FPS

I was chatting to a chap on Discord last night and he's running on an 15 13600k with a 4070 super and no stuttering. So it's not a CPU issue.
It's weird isn't it, it's not headset as I've used pimax super and steam frame, so two different runtimes, I'll try the pro in case it's a meta thing *shrugs*

You've tried hags,

Ive done some testing this afternoon and this is exactly what I have to do to get the game running smoothly.
Its a right pain though switching in and out of virtual desktop and then selecting which desktop window is in focus.
When its running the game is superb though in VR. Running everything on ultra settings and it looks stunning

Can I suggest desktopxr to easily see desktop when in vr, works with steam and other runtimes.

Looks like I may have gotten rid of the stuttering :D
Here's what I did, not sure which step fixed it but something did :p

1) Uninstalled the game
2) Removed all traces of it from my PC (My Documents, Appdata and Steam > Userdata > *manynumbers* > 228380 > folders). Think I still had some files left over when I had the game installed a long time ago.
3) Reinstalled the game
4) Started the game, set it to 1080p windowed mode
5) Started a race then quit out of the game
6) Installed the mod and saved settings
7) Started the game via the launcher in SteamVR

Done :)
I've only had a quick go as I've got a league race tonight so I've not tried with Virtual Desktop yet or even set up my controls.

Let us know how you get on :)

The stutter remains while the game is in focus on desktop :(
It's not just me though, seems a lot of folk are having the same issue. While the game is not focused it runs great! Was having all sorts of issues with my wheel with it last night though so I gave up. :/
