I have weak wrists, I'm forever spraining them in the most ridiculous ways.

I've been recommended a wrist support, obviously I don't want it to restrict my movement, so which would be best, the band style or the one that goes partially over your hand?

Buy an use a Powerball.

Join a gym and use a thick-handle dumbell for some rowing.

When I broke my arm last year (distal ulna, shattering the two inches to my wrist) the physio told me to toughen up, get my mobility sorted and hit the gym. It's never been stronger.

However, to avoid turning this into a medical thread, go and see a physio rather than a doctor as a doctor will either prescribe you antibiotics, painkillers or a wrist race. A physio might actually sort out the problem. :)

Is it to help in pressing exercises. Bench press or shoulder press etc?

If it's not specific to exercise then do what the guy above me said. Concentrate on strengthening

It's a long term problem, doctor basically said theres nothing they could do and gave me a wrist brace but it's big, has a huge lump of metal in it and impedes movement, I was hoping that a sports wrist support would help prevent injury.

I play badminton so I use my wrist quite a lot. Would a powerball not aggravate the problem?

It depends on what is wrong with your wrist.

Doctors are generally pretty inept with musculoskeletal issues, which is why I only ever talkj to physios if I have a muscle problem.

Go and see one. Personally, I would pay to go private, simply because NHS physios won't give you the time of day.

Have you tried wrist wraps? I use them for pressing after my warm up sets and find them really good. Just got to make sure you don't get anything that is too stiff for your liking as then they are very uncomfortable
