Thread saying that it was a brake failure and there was no corvette in sight. CONSPIRACY!?!?! :p

I've taken my 200 bhp track car grass tracking on that corner because I TOTALLY underestimated my braking zone.
Christ knows what sort of speed a 650+ bhp GTR is doing at the end of the main GP straight and I don't think I would want to find out.
I nearly took out two brand new Astons as well :o

Oopsie anyway **** happens. He can afford it

But i get the impression some people think they do. No wonder manufacturers put the kind of Safety warning in regard to things like ABS and ESP

That's the thing, we're coming into the age where people are trying to blame manufacturers for their own inability to drive. For example, when it's been snowing, how many people in 4x4s go flying by, with the drivers thinking 'LOL4X4, I'm a driving god' - people don't use common sense, they just assume that because there's no warning on safety systems, they'll protect them in all circumstances. It's not the case, and it's quite disheartening to see :/

Not really related to ESP but totally agreed on common sense. The other night I was driving along the M6, there was a thick fog and visibility was extremely poor. I'm driving along at 45 thinking it was a bit dodgy, but there were loads of cars tearing past, not even with fog lights on, blew my mind.

What a waste of a perfectly good car :(

Yes they are one of the easier cars to drive fast but their electronics aren't infallible.

I think it kind of is. Systems like ESP, DSC, etc are dumbing down the motoring population, to the point where they rely on these systems to help them handle a car. I performed a little test on a roundabout local to me - it's always greasy in the wet, as there's a petrol station just off it - therefore diesel and the like is spilled on it a lot. With ESP on, I could go around the roundabout a LOT faster than I'd feel comfortable with - but without it on, understeer ahoy. This may be a good thing to some extent, keeping people safe - it's primary purpose. But what if they got into a situation where ESP couldn't save them?

People are basically driving a killing machine, they should treat it as such.

Assuming he was actually trying to take the corner about 147MPH.
