Write Protected

Bought a Micro SD card today for my wii & i tryed to put put info to the SD card from my PC but it wont let me transfer or format the card... says it is write proteceted,Remove the write protection or use another disk??

Any Ideas

Does the card/SD adaptor have a little switch on it that moves up and down?

Yeh says lock & i,ve tryed it both ways.

I had similar trouble with a card in my camera, switch was looser than it should have been and whenever I pushed the card in the switch went to lock

No way of covering 1 of the gold tabs on the underside of the card?

It's nothing to do with the external contacts, but rather points inside the card which get shorted or not depending on if you want it locked.

The tab probably isn't making contact properly when you put your card in a device.

Google suggests on older cards simply putting a piece of taper over the edge where the tab is, but chances are it won't work.

Surely if you only bought it today you can take it back as faulty?
