Hi all,

Its not for me to write one but a polish friend at work is looking at renting a proprty with his wife. However they have asked him to take a reference in from work.

He asked our supervisor but he said that he wouldnt know what to put in one, so he asked me what it should cover and tbh i dont have a clue.

I told him i would find out tonight and figured that some of you on here will have experience at this. What would the letting agency/landlord want a reference to cover/say?

thanks

Sounds like they are looking for a personal reference.

In this case they want information on the person as individual.
Relaible, trust worthy, etc etc.

Example:
Date

To whom it may concern

I confirm that I have known (name) for (number) years.

(State relationship - social, business, working together in some other capacity, club, activity, project, etc.)

At all times I have found (name/him/her) to be (state characteristics - eg, dependable, reliable, hard-working, conscientious, honest, peace-loving, courteous, etc - to be as helpful as possible think about what the reader will most prefer to see, in terms of satisfying concerns, or seeing evidence of relevant required skills or characteristics).

I'm happy to provide further information if required. (optional)

Yours faithfully, etc.
