Wrong default ram timings?

My ram is a 6gb kit of corsair. Timings are 9-9-9-24 My gigabyte UD3R is saying my ram timings are 8-8-8-20? Im sure that it never always read these timing. I have since reset comos and such. pretty sure when i first got my bits the ram was reading 9-9-9-24.

Change the timings back?, although 8-8-8-20's better.

CPU-Z should be able to read the SPD module and confirm the correct timings for your sticks, if the SPD says 9-9-9-24 then just force it manually on the bios for stability, or try with the tighter timings but test that there are no instabilities.

Its probably worth checking corsairs spec too, to see if extra voltage is required to allow the tighter timings. Fast memory often needs a bit more power.
