I'm running vista on this laptop, and during the install I must have set the keyboard wrong, I remember being asked but alas in my haste wrong buttons were pushed :(

the problem is when I press shift and 2 I get " not @ and when I press shift and '' I get @

Now I've looked as hard as I can through control panel and keyboard options but apart from specyfing 102/105 microsoft compatable or whatever it says theres no area or country option :(

but the odd thing is at the change user screen, there seemsw to be a keyboard or language option and my options are US or UK but changing either doesn't make any difference?

Ideas ++ please!

Open the Control Panel and on the left side click on Classic View look for and double click on Regional and Language Options, now click on the Keyboards and Languages tab at the top, now click on Change keyboards..., use the dropdown menu to select the language you want or if the language isn't available click on the Add button to add additional languages.

Hope this helps!

/edit, yeah chatten, thats the page I found for the keyboard settings and was playing with, odly not in the keyboard tab? But either way, can't fidle it right it seems :(

stupid qestion this is an aussie laptop, where is the @ key on your british keyboard?

The @ key on a british keyboard is the second key to the right of the L key, so you have L > :; > @'

EDIT: If you want the keys that you press to correspond to the keyboard layout then try changing the keyboard language to USA.

sweet, I think I'm best leaving everything as so then, sure the graphics on my keys are wrong, thats what was confusing me so bad, touch typing and the wrong key coming up? But all is explained, I guess this must be a US spec lappy then oh well can't have it all can we!

thanks for your help, such a noob question but then it is sunday morning!
