Ok I did a very silly thing a year and half ago, which is mainly down to pure laziness but what's done is done.

I bought a bed frame and mattress from Ikea, the mattress I purchased was a latex one but they gave me a foam one, for some stupid reason I never reported the error and just stuck with the crappy foam alternative (which was probably a fair bit cheaper).

Now the foam mattress is starting to wear down a fair bit and would be nice to have the firm latex one.

Soooo I still have the receipt how much chance do you think I have of getting the latex one now without charge? :p

Ps: Yes I know how silly this was so no need to lecture me ;)

I don't believe they have any obligation to now, so it would down the the discretion of whoever is in charge.

I doubt it given the time that is passed to be honest, and the fact that they will now not be able to resell that mattress due to the wear/tear.

Nahh I was thinking of his fine negotiating tactics when he took a 4 year old washing machine back and got it replaced for free due to consumer rights or something.

Well that mattress should last longer than a year and a half anyway. So you'll definately get a swap and it's certainly worth a shot going for the better mattress seeing as you paid for it. If you kick up enough fuss I reckon you've got a decent chance.

No chance. The return period on a mattress will be fairly tight (maybe a month or even two weeks) as it is, due to the fact that you sleep on it and wear it down from the start. They're never going to let you return it after 18 months.

Kick off about how your latex matress is wearing really quickly. When they got somebody out to look at it and they tell you that you've got a foam matress, kick off again about not getting what you paid for. Good job you kept the recipt ;)

WIN!

id just complain that its worn down already, tell em you checked the receipt and its not even the mattress you ordered, tell em the missus bought it and you thought thats what she had actually ordered so u never questioned it

You could just play stupid saying you thought it was a latex matress instead of a foam one as SB118 said :p.

You may be able to work something out where you get discount of a latex matress because that's what you originally paid for. Contact the Ikea store you purchased it from and if that doesn't work go to head office.

The time limit for return (resulting in a refund/partial refund/repair) will be decided by the courts and will be how long you can reasonably expect a mattress in the present circumstances to last. Not sure where you've plucked the month or 2 week figures from.

If you mean that you have a month or 2 weeks to return it if you change your mind then I think you lose that right as soon as you sleep on it lol.
