Wrong memory speed msi bios

Noob question, my new build shows the 3600 memory as 2666 in the top left, yet the XMP shows the correct speed and timings. What do I do?

I think that's normal? It should run at the proper XMP speed in Windows.

Hmm, sorry, I could be wrong there - Rebooted my X570 Tomahawk to check, and it showed 3600 in my current (manual settings) profile AND when I switched to XMP.

Have you saved your BIOS changes?

I'm really perplexed; I just built this system this evening and everything in the bios is the default settings. I seen that memory was showing as 2666 and went straight to XMP to correct it, but it's already showing as the correct speed and timings..

If you run DRAM Calculator, the Membench tab has a System info pane that includes the memory speed - What does that show?

It shows 2667 MHZ

I've also tried updating the bios, still no joy

what voltage does the ram need to run at 3600 Mhz?

Might need to increase that...mine needs to be manually changed to 1.35v for xpm speeds

You've got the same MB as me but I notice your bios is not up to date, you are on A00 and I am on A30 - suggest updating your BIOS and see if that fixes it.

That does appear to be a difference between OP's picture and OldKitMan's.

That was it, the DDR voltage was too low.

I always assumed XMP would set a suitable voltage too, maybe not.

Just from reading on here so i knew what i needed to do when i set mine up ...cpu-z tells you what your ram requires for different speeds...overclocking ram usually needs extra juice

Would it not make more sense to update the bios to the latest version and see if that fixes the voltage instead of doing it manually?

I've never touched the voltage manually on mine just left it to the BIOS when setting my XMP profile.

The OP's bios as shown in the original pic is the initial BIOS release and one of the later one's does state 'Improved memory compatibility.'
