Hey guys, currently got this new setup going:

28406_103379806373574_100001046659116_26552_4177831_n.jpg

The TV is a LG 32LH5000, and it can go up to 1920x1080@100Hz. However when I plug it in and my graphics card detects the display, it thinks that it can only show 1360x768@60Hz and will not let me go any higher. The only way I have gone around this so far is to connect my previous monitor and let it detect so I can set the display at 1920x1080 (Still only with 60Hz though), then plugged the TV back in.

This is all well and good until I restart my PC then I am back to 1360x768 again.

Would me connecting the display with just a VGA cable (VGA to VGA) be causing this sort of problem with it not detecting the proper display?

I have the latest drivers on my GTX260 etc and I know the screen can display 1920x1080 because it has been at that.

If you think it is not the cable, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

i have the 37" 7000 version and mine runs 1920x1080 fine i'm using hdmi cable. how ever its not p[ossible to get 100hz on your tv.... all lcd tvs can only run 60hz when being used as a pc monitor as anything over is controlled by the TV (when the tv is processing the picture not your graphics card). its the tv software which emulates 100hz. its physically not 100hz.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh...... ****.

So that means I won't be able to do any more than 60hz with gaming too then?

If that is the case I might actually send this back.

yep thats the case buddy i made the same mistake! how ever i do a lot of gaming and its really isnt a problem! sure i would love to have 100hz it DOES make a difference but the colours and reponse time of this tv is good enough for me. not to mention it has freeview/ and i can have my xobx etc hooked up as it has 4 hdmi slots.

The Freeview etc doesn't really matter as I don't get it here, and I dont have a console so really I only spent the money to get a big monitor with a decent frame rate.

I think I will get an Acer GD245HQ. At least it will match the size of my other monitor.

Thanks.

i have a 42LH7000.. and to be frank 100hz is not very good at all. it kind of defeats its purpose (better picture in terms of motion). What i found was, with dodgy 100hz a camera panning over a static picture (say some scenery) you notice the picture refresh is quicker making the pan much smoother and realistic.. BUT! if the background image (scenery) is static and theres a fast moving object against the static background then a weird blur/ghost effect happens around the moving object. It varies with certain media but still to me its solving one problem but creating another. I'm actually returning this TV because i dont like it. Dont worry about 100hz on LG TV man.. if you really want 100+ hertz get something that true 120hz or more.
