Am building a new loop to include a new pump /res block - one of ocuk built Pump Combo's combining a d5 pump and ek x- res.

Finally sorted all the bits needed (all through ocuk :)) and was looking to drain old loop + dismantle as required + add new tubing, 2nd gpu and extra rad + new pump-res , this weekend.

Started last night by taking the cooler of my 2nd 7950 and fitting the new block - no probs.:)

Decided that tonight would fit together the mounting bracket which enables one to attach the pump/res combo to the case.
Came with a sealed (EK) plastic envelope containing 6 screws+ 6 washers + 2 nuts + 4 vibration fittings + one allen key - looking professional etc
BUT
Vibration fittings + washers = good
Screws - NOT good - too small for the holes and nuts.
Allen key - NOT good - too big for the screws

Extremely irritating - new build will now have to wait for at least another week as even if ocuk are able to send me the correct screws (which I am sure they will )before the weekend I will not be able to get on until Saturday at the earliest.

Not pleased with EK :(

Ah well - whinge over :)

No joy at either Maplins or bnq - both stock the correct diameter but too long!

Not sure what the correct length would be , looks to be about 5/6mm and shortest the 2 had was 10mm:(

Ran into the same issue yesterday when putting my build together, got the fans attached to the rad with no problems but attaching the rad to the case no bolt I had worked. So a trip to B&Q and Maplins was in order (closest place to me that was open at 6pm).

Maplins - Useless only sell huge plastic containers of assorted bolts none of them black.
B&Q - Better but no cigar, 8mm was the shortest M4 bolts they had.

Success was going onto fleebay and picking up some 6mm in black in a pack of 20. As I wasn't sure which would look best got.

Black Countersunk socket bolts M4 6mm x 20
Black Button head bolts M4 6mm x 20
Black Socket cap bolts M4 6mm x 20

So going to give all 3 a shot and see which looks best. Using a Koolance Rad so m4 is the size I needed.

why not just buy them from b+q and cut to length???

I would rather spend £3 for screws that are the right size and wait a day for shipping than risk stripping the threads inside a £60 radiator.

Also the screws in B&Q weren't black.

Have decided that for now that I'll wait for ocuk.

Have made a request in customer services so hopefully will hear some time this week.

Am appreciative of the alternative suggestions to source if needed. Thanks :)

gotta laugh at that a 60 quid rad is nothing compared to a 3k impreza engine yet i was happy to cut bolts to size knowing fine well what would have happened if i made a booboo of it.

besides its a dual pump/res worst is you have screws that are too short. iirc the screws that fit them are the same screws that would be used to attach a hard drive/dvd drive to the bay. mibbe totally wrong here and read op wrong but thats what it sounds like

OcUk advised today that it was the case that ek had put the wrong screws in the bag :(
They are looking to hopefully get new ones from ek but as yet no timetable is available.
Fingers crossed !

not wishing to start an argument but stripping the threads how?

1 mins work, cut with hacksaw sand/ file of burs - profit

To be fair looked back on it, I did miss one detail. I was using a pair of pliers to cut the screws as didn't have a hacksaw to hand (thought I had one in the shed but after getting back I was unable to find it).

It also made more sense to buy them from feebay since the screws from B&Q where silver rather than black. Doesn't make any difference other than looks but for £3 it was hardly breaking the bank and it will match the black case better.

A quick update -

EK have still not sent the correct size screws to ocuk -:( - NOT impressed

Was ,thanks to BartHunt , able to source replacements- :) - Advice very much appreciated.

All now up and running - much better than the x20 750 :)

What are EK doing ?? - I've bought 2 products (the other was a gpu block - not bought here) and both came with the wrong sized screw (the gpu problem was that one of the nine was the wrong size!).

Will not be rushing to buy any of there products in the future :(
