WRX help please

Lad at work has a 2003 Subaru WRX that he is having problems with. It started at the weekend when he went to start it up. Basically he has no power going through to the dashboard or anything else. the only thing lit is the immobiliser bulb in the centre console.

He has tried a new battery thinking that his previous one may have been at fault but, it made no difference.

Any Subaru experts that have heard of a similar problem or know what it might be?

That was my initial thought. Would that cut all lights in the dashboard ?

I'd expect so.

Let's face it - you've had a new battery in it so there's something cutting the power, if it's not the immobiliser then what the hell is it?

It's unlikely to the be the immobiliser IMO, they don't affect many circuits. Almost complete electrical failure is more likely to be a bad connection somewhere between the battery and the main circuits, possibly on the starter motor or the main fuse (big one, usualy around 100 Amp).

on cars ive had with them, two stage immobiliser, it will cut all that sort of thing until you disarm it. maybe his wont disarm

Fuses did this on my 206. Car and and worked, but dials didn't.

Yea I'd just check the fuses. Easy place to start.
