Are there 2 types of black jacks now or have they ruined them?

These are black jacks

The only type I can find now are these

The old ones, were usually hard, stuck to the wrapper, really chewy and got stuck in the teeth.

The new ones are soft, hardly have any flavour and have a waxy after taste, can barely taste aniseed after I eat them.

I'm ****ed off.

Oh man, remember the bag that had black jacks and fruit salad in them?

You ended up looking like a dog chewing a toffee.

Fortnum and Mason sell them for getting on for a tenner per small jar (still have the barratts papers on).

I cannot understand how people could justify spending that.

thats how i remember the old ones tbh , they where always hit and miss between getting soft ones and getting hard ones , the hard ones that where stuck to the wrapped had just been left in the sun , usually on the newsagents shelf

They ruined them :( and now charge more for them.. I remember getting 50 black jacks for 50p. Ah the good ol' days.

I remember them & salad creams being half a pence each. (oh the shame). Those were the days, scouring the streets for half pennies.
