I'm 5 foot 11 inches and weigh 82kg (12.9 stone), thus my Body Mass Index is 25.03. I am also very skinny! I have a 32inch waist and an often called a stick insect by my mates and hate getting my top off on the beach as I look weedy.

BUT, as my BMI is >25, I am overweight???? WTF is all that about? I am skinny ffs, I want to put on weight if I could (particularly muscle), but yet I am already 'overweight'. My doctor even tells me I should put on weight as I'm skinnier than the average person! If I lost weight, I would look anorexic ffs!

I don't get it

pics tbh, bet you're a lard-o irl

also, by that graph your as overweight as me, and I'd not say I was overweight!

BMI is a joke for the non average person. ignore it imo

im currently classed as obese (5'9 / 115kg), was classed as clinically obese at the start of the year. yet neither reading was worth taking any notice of.

Stop freaking out man. That chart is not the boss of you.

edit: what's more, I'm exactly the same height and weight as you and I'm not skinny.

loose some weight then:p jk

Ignore that, those scales dont take into account your build and bone sttructure etc etc, im technically under weight but for my frame im fine.

Looking at that graph you posted, you're on the cusp of underweight/ok. BMI isn't entirely accurate.
nah, he's just shy of 13 stone, so cusp of ok/overweight

i am the same height but 11.5-12 stone (changes daily)

but I am not skinny. infact I am round in the middle....beer drinker you see.

I wouldnt worry about it. if you eat healthy and get exercise the BMI graph thing goes out of the window. it is only a generalised thing.

It would seem so, but if they deny women IVF etc. based on this flawed measurement...seems a little unfair to me...
THIS is why I think the whole thing is a scam for the NHS as an excuse to refuse people costly IVF!

im sure they will use a range of figures / scales that will determine things rather than just BMI

Something to think of.

Kurt Angle, from the WWE is about 5'10 - 5'11 and 240 pounds, which would make him obease apparently.

If you google Batista (also from WWE) who is 6'5 and 326LBS, does he look over weight ;)

I wouldn't be too concerned with what those charts have to say.

My friend does sports coaching and other related topics.

He told me has had 3 tests done, all done in a slightly different way, one said he was over weight (literally, he is completely lean) one said he was underweight, the other said he was "just about ok".

BMI should never be taken in isolation as a measure of anything.

I don't care about it TBH, it just worries me that theoretically I could be denied treatment on the NHS because of my BMI, yet I have very fit and healthy! Seems absurb to me...
I doubt any doctor would take it in isolation.

Don't want to be at all mean but 18 stone is pretty heavy for a 5'9"er...
