WTF is this beetle?

Why did you kill it ? some people are just plain thick. Next time, pick it up and put it outside you ***** and be more responsible. Are people still this stupid? I would like to think we have evolved enough to respect life.

Because it makes sense to kill it? think about it this way, capturing it would be a pretty traumatic experience for the beetle. It's better to give it a quick painless death then put it through all that.

respect life? things kill other things, its life.

you're just a bit of a nancy tbh mate.

Ha. Mate of mine uploaded a video tonight of one of those on it's back trying to flip over. He gets the missus to flick it and it flips over, takes off and heads straight for him at which point he squeals like a little girl and drops whatever he was using to record the video (possibly iphone). End video.

Tis a cockchafer.

They are pretty big if your usual experience of beetles is ladybird sized.

I'd have fed it to the pond of frogs outside. I think there's about 10+ in there right now.

Last year one of those flew into my room in a late night gaming session, scared the hell out of me, they make a fair racket and have what looks like is a big sticker, thankfully not, that's only used for putting eggs in your ears..

Uncrushable?

Try squashing a tick.

Those little bloodsuckers have a very small, hard, flat body.

It is possible but you need to trap it between two focused hard surfaces such as the back of your fingernails.

I spent some time devising new ways to kill ticks while I was on a chainsaw course. Ticks love lurking in bracken and bracken is often near/under/around conifer plantations -_-

We've evolved enough to decide whether we want to kill it or not.

People tend to get squeamish about squashing something the larger a critter is.

A beetle most of the size of your thumb would make distressing crunching noises and squish juice all over the place.

Feed it to another critter. That way the bad bit of killing it is offset by the good of feeding something else :)

Insects carry diseases, that's why we "evolved" to find them disgusting and instinctively kill them when we find them in our homes.

some people are just plain thick.

Indeed they are.

Massive spastic beetles annoy me. I would have killed it also.
