WTF is this!!

out of interest what other series have steered away from their original gameplay??

ones i can think of are:

battlefield
all tom clancys games
resident evil

It's not always a bad thing. Resident evil 2 and 4 for instance and my personal favorites in that series but love them both. I liked splinter cell back in the day and to be fair I really also enjoyed conviction. The new game looks all right, certainly far from bad anyway. If you don't like how certain. Series have evolved then just stop playing them. Not much point crying over it to be honest.

i wouldn't label it as evolution though.

It looks a bit like Splinter Cell had sex with Assassins Creed and this is what they produced :p.

Hitman Absolution stirred the porridge in there somewhere as well. It's like they have all sorto become the same game

I played the original Splinter Cell games and enjoyed the stealth based action. Now it seems Sam Fisher has turned into Jason Bourne, which in itself isn't a bad thing but I enjoyed sneaking around and using tactics rather than run into a camp and shoot everyone dead in under five seconds.

Oh well roll on the next Thief game.

My friend got me this for Christmas and it just didn't quite feel like a Hitman game, I mean, sure there were some good levels but it just didn't feel like Hitman.

I actually think that's a pretty accurate way of looking at these games, Splinter Cell, Hitman, Assassins Creed and Max Payne all have a lot in common, I'd argue that Max Payne 3 is very well suited and is fantastic, the others lose what made them a bit special, or in Assassins Creeds case it's the Call of Duty effect that has ruined it.

They've shown off some other gameplay since then to show it does still have the stealth element, but by and large it's going to be more like Conviction than the earlier Splinter Cell games.

SC: Pandora Tomorrow +1

SC has lost it's way, I'm dissapointed with the whole, here's an AK, kill everyone then drop a nuke. I was a massive fan of the series and still am, but doubt i'll buy the newest.

I'll be getting it as I'm a big Splinter Cell fan and have since it was basically one of the release titles for the Xbox. However, it looks like it's been diluted by unexceptional gameplay and level design. I hope to be proven wrong though.

Chaos Theory was great.

Whatever this is, doesn't look like Splinter Cell anymore, looks devolved/dumbed down for the cool kids.

It's Ghost Recon meets Assassin's Creed. Looks like a good action game, but as said, it's hardly Splinter Cell. The earlier games made you suffer if you chose the direct route, through a dozen enemies. This one, it's all like "mark your targets, press a button, they all die in a visually pleasing way". First impression - it seems easy.

Looks ok, doesn't look anything like Spinter Cell though. Mind, Conviction was very run and gun and not really typical Splinter Cell either. A bit sad that they've moved away form the ultra-sneaky, shoot or sneak past kind of gameplay like in Splinter Cell Chaos Theory etc

I hate the way this game has gone. Chaos Theory is my favourite game of all time and its gone downhill since. I can see why this would appeal to some though. Im yearning for a proper stealth game, love ghosting levels

I agree what you said, I thought chaos Theory was great and so were the games before it, don't like where the series is going or gone.

I loved the ghosting levels the best, just loved the sneaking about the level.
