"WTF is wrong with MGPU setups these days" Tweaktown

Worked this out years ago with a single 7990 (dual card) and then 2 x 7990 (quad) and it was pointless unless I wanted to be close to the top of the benching charts.

Too many hardware issues, too many cooling issues for very little gain in very few titles.

For the last 2 years I pick the fastest single card I can afford (and still save money).

I had a good run with GTX470 SLI - very few instances where I couldn't take good advantage of it - sadly not so true these days hence I've not rushed to 780 SLI.

The thing is that many game engines are becoming more complex and offloading effects to compute. This is making it harder for DX11 type mGPU to work correctly.

mGPU will come into its own with low abstraction API's. Jsut need to wait for AMD to stick up code for it on GPUOpen for it to become widely adopted.
