Do people really hate metros that much?

After the vandalism last week (which i've cleaned off) i put the metro on fleabay for a quid, no tax, no mot. Could have paid me in bananas for all i cared, just wanted rid of the damned thing. I had one guy arrange to pick it up on sunday so i got the car out of the yard and started it up for when he arrived, but he never showed.

NOT ONE BID!

Are they really that bad?

Now i'm working away for 3 days, which means it's going to be sat in the back lane annoying the neighbors until i get back :(

I recently gave away a car with 80k miles on the clock, perfect honda engine in there just need transferring or some repairs done to the body. People just dont want the hassle I guess - its a throwaway society.

There was a metro on ebay recently with a power to weight ratio of over 200, went for 3k. Thats supercar performance basically

Why would anyone want to pay YOU for a scrap car?

It's not scrap quality, i've just lost interest after having my yard turned over. Starts first turn of the key, etc...

reylands metro, absolute steal for 3k for what is a quality track car. see it pretty much everyday at home.

as fox says its more cost for people to take it home. throw away society these days nobody fixes things when its cheaper to buy new.

It's got no MOT, its got no tax, and it's an old Metro. Anyone who hasn't seen it will assume it is scrap and won't take the trouble to come and find that it isn't.

Was £30 last time i checked and that's if you deliver the car to them, and i've got no insurance on this car as it's been sat in my backyard for ages.

I've not MOT'd it due to lack of time and the fact i want rid of it as it's a reminder of the scumbags who went through my back yard.

Very suprised that it didnt sell, no matter what it is, i recently got £300 for a '95 rotten golf with no MOT or tax.

Ebay has always been my way of getting rid of ANYTHING.

Strange++, i guess i'd just call up and find someone who will take it away for free.

why would anyone buy something that hasnt got an MOT?

just MOT it, then you will get a few extra quid for it.

We got rid of a Punto last year for £180, it had no tax, no MOT, blown head gasket, blowing exhuast. I got about Half a dozen emails offering cash for it before the end of the sale.

The chap who bought it towed it back to London behind an old Beemer, to sit in a lock up where he had a few punto's. Ever now and again his Dad would come in an fix them up and they'd flog them on for upto a grand (so he said).

Basically if you do not pay the Labour charge, some old bangers are very cost effective to fix and sell on. Pesonally I just wanted rid of it, out locally scrappy wanted £50 to dispose of it.

true. ive paid £100 for my volvo estate in mint condition (i got lucky), just thrown 12 months MOT and tax on it that cost more than the car. should be good for a few years yet, and ive had offers for the full leather interior of £250 alone!

bargain motoring rocks sometimes :)

hehe, well my totally clapped out car went on to live for another 10 months after I thought I had scrapped it. Apparently the pistons rings or whatever wasnt as bad as I thought, got a call off the Police ages after telling me it had been dumped.
Which reminds me, I better check wether my last car sale went through or not, they are a bit stricter about ownership and fines and taxes now :(

Will you get a payment for it ?
