Been thinking of selling my system and start from fresh but anyway. Thought i would try CEX to see what they would offer me cash for it. Before i tell you what they offered ill tell you my system.

Core 2 Duo E6420 @ 3.8Ghz
4Gb Geil Black dragon at (50Mhz
ASUS P5N-T Deluxe 780i board ( Runs a 500FSB ;) )
Zotac 260GTX Core216 55nm
1000w PSU
320Gb HDD
External USB DVD drive ( My Radiator is front mounted and takes up all the drive bays )
XSPC Delta V3 water block
XSPC RS360mm Radiator
Swiftec Micro reservoir
Laing DDC Ultra with XSPC pump top
Antec 900 case

Guess how much they offered?

It can't be much - the water cooling isn't cheap, and the GPU is at the top of mid-range, but there's nothing special. Factor in the fact they want to make a profit...

£150?

They have to make a pofit when they sell it on.

Fleece bay and the MM here people pay more because they will use it. So you are then are the shop (CEX)

So if you want to sell it to a place that will sell it on for profit you must expect less for it.

cex in andover dont even know that the xbox 360 cable is a HD component cable. they said it was standard definition i lol'd. i wouldnt sell my stuff to them ever.

Lol, reminds me of when I took my £900 3-month-old Dell Inspiron in there....they offered me £350 for it. I was pretty stunned tbh.

To the layman, your computer specs are somewhat different though..

E6420 @ 2.17Ghz (Stock)
Geforce 260GTX (average joe doesnt know there are 192 or 216 core parts)
PSU (1000W, overkill to most enthusiasts, WTF its a PSU to Joe Bloggs)
320GB Hdd (getting to be quite "small" these days)

To be honest, IMHO do the following

Buy 1 midrange PSU, strip out all the water cooling.

E6420 @ 2.16Ghz stock
2Gb Ram (keep or sell the rest separate, or even offer as upgrade)
Geforce 260GTX
~500W PSU
Internal DVD player.. who needs extra boxes floating around
Keyboard/Mouse at the least, and perhaps a budget screen.

Sell as a complete system, keep the watercooling and 1kw PSU for yourself, or sell separately, you'll get a lot more for a 1KW Psu from someone who wants one, rather than as the PSU for a computer that probably draws around 250W at full load :)

Yes but as somebody already said CEX are there to make a profit not to be a charity . Its easy isnt it if you dont like their offers dont sell to them

Yep. While it isn't a good deal, to average joe, that's what they have to offer.

To joe, it's a "dual core, nvidia graphics, 4GB RAM, 320GB system with a nice case"

After you sell it, they'll take the watercooling, and put it into a super high end mega expensive kit, and sell the rest as a standard system. Or they might sell the system with a load of technical jargon that means nothing, to confuse old joey and reap extra profit from him.

Core 2 Duo E6420 @ 3.8Ghz = £50
4Gb Geil Black dragon at (50Mhz =£30
ASUS P5N-T Deluxe 780i board ( Runs a 500FSB ) =£35
Zotac 260GTX Core216 55nm= £100
1000w PSU =£45
320Gb HDD =£30

= £290 easily in the mm
cex would probably get £ 400 for that lot alone

No they would split it all up to maximise profit.

Cex is only good for one thing and that is games exchange buying selling etc.

Even their phones are joke prices and probably stolen, in fact I think most of their stock is stolen goods.
