Windows 7 driver auto install

Does anyone know if theres a way to stop windows 7 auto installing basic drivers for devices? Having a problem with my 295 and i think it could be the basic drivers its installing stopping the card from working

boot up in safe mode with basic VGA, install newest nVidia drivers, reboot into Windows normally.
