Wurds that yew repaetedly spel incorectly?

Constituent - I know how to spell it but even after years of typing it for work there's something about it that means I switch a few letters when typing it. I can smash out 90-100 words per minute but come to type constituent and I have go back to the OAP type with one finger style.

That one is commonplace and really quite weird. It serves no purpose and makes no sense. Why splodge the two words together for 'lot' and not for other words? You wouldn't write 'afew' or 'adozen' or 'akeyboard' or 'adog', so why 'a lot'? That's a serious question and open to anyone, i.e. why does anyone think 'a lot' is the right way to write 'a lot'? Please allot a little thought to my question :)
 
I always spell ominous as omnious. I think that's because I sometimes struggle with the out-loud pronunciation. And speaking of which, I had to google 'pronunciation' and realised I was way off so add that too. I'm also guilty of exstinct instead of extinct.. :o

I wonder if it could be area/accent related

Someone speaking the queen's English would exaggerate/seperate the A

whereas a northerner like myself whilst seperating it for A few and A dozen says 'a lot' like it's the front bit of allotment :p

I do know what's right mind. Just occasionally type it as one and no real idea why .
