Morning all,

Just heard about this site on the local news this morning:

http://www.betterdrivingplease.com/index.asp

Its basically where you can leave reports of peoples bad (or good) driving so it can be checked out by the police later on (according to the news at least).

Seems like a good idea in theory although some of the reports are just useless.

eg:

3.45 to 4.45 pm. Boy racer seen 4 times in less than two hours

erm right but doing what exactly?!

So anyway does anyone have any thoughts on this,

mine are good idea in principle although should only be used for actual problem drivers not just 'omg person seen doing 33 in a 30, absolutely reckless speed omg think of the children!!11!!!!1!!!!!'

The principal is good but anyone could write anything on there ?

A little flawed methinks.

An interesting idea and a good way for mums in their MPVs to moan about everything but it won't do anything though.

I can see it now.

"Blue Lotus Elise speeding excessively, cornering too fast and making too much noise"

I'm gonna need a whole section all to myself.

Posers car with loud music cruising the streets with little consideration for other road users or pedestrians, occasional sharp bursts of acceleration and exhaust noise. Once appeared to be a different driver of the same vehicle but could not be certain, male / female passenger. Targa type top car.

Full details button ;)

This is my favourite...

Reckless speeding in outside lane. complete disregard for all otherroad users. Speed estimated at over 90mph. Had furry ears on his helmet too.

:D

Should I put something about the knob who had his passengers fire a paintball at me out of his car on Sunday? (Bloody hurt too! :p )

The potential for abuse of this is huge, I can't see it lasting long personally even if their motives are positive.

What a pointless site.

Still I guess it gives the busybodies something to do other than complaining about car adverts which imply that the vehicle is capable of forward motion.

yer, the chances of it not being abused is pretty damn slim. I bet its just a way of getting people off the police's back. Theres nothing they can do from a random report on a website - i guess they could give you a warning... but nothing else!

Police and Insurers can check their records against

yer... thats a good idea - anyone fancy finding the numberplate of Mr Andrew S McGavin of Ixat Ltd (the registrant of the domain) and see how he likes his insurance being overturned for reports of various offences made up on the site!

Must take someone really 'special' to come up with an idea like this, perhaps he works for government, if not he should would fit right in.

Were you a pedestrian? I'd have reported that to the police tbh, if/when caught they would be in for a whole world of pain for pulling such a stupid stunt. People have gone to jail for this kind of thing.

This is an awful idea in practice and will be totally abused.

Totaly. It's an utter waste of time as it will be full of either whinging NIMBYs or people with some kind of vendetta or just people messing around. Can you imagine the police having the time to follow these up?

Was riding on one wheel and he must have been speeding as I was close (45 in a 60 It happened just after a bend which accounts for my speed) to the limit and he shot passed me!!

So 45 in a 60 is close to the limit??

this person is a menace at parking and driving. hasnt drove for 8 yrs and it shows - has clipped the pavement loads of times - needs 3 car spaces to park a small car

People that can't park or reverse are bloody annoying, but is it actualy illegal?

He Zooms in at about 49mph. He nearly crashed into his own garage, he also handbrakes into the drive, this is dangerous as kids play on the estate.

About 49mph! LMAO!
Also, was he taking photos at the same time with his zoom lens?

this person is a menace at parking and driving. hasnt drove for 8 yrs and it shows
Talk about holding a grudge!

OK so I am nit-picking with the above 2 but this has to be the best:

Time 13.10 - navy blue BMW fails to stop when we are already upon the roundabout.
FAILING TO STOP ON A ROUNDABOUT! WTF! Quite clearly states they were already "upon" the roundabout!

what happens when they sell the car but don't realise that the registration is still listed ?

If as they claim, the "Police and insurers" will be checking this site, they will only be doing it for a laugh

Might as well have a site where people can upload pictures of people they think might be neo nazi pinko lesbian single mothers

.
