After reading the 'Mohammed Boys Name' thread and all the silly statements made without a shred of evidence i thought some of you might find this interesting...

It's a website that creates distorted world maps based upon various themes and statistics.

They are maps that don't take geographical boundaries into account, for example if the UK has twice as much income from tourism than the US, then the area covered by the UK on the map will be twice that of the USA.

It calculates an average across the globe and then redraws each countries size based upon that variable.

The bottom map shows that the UK has a lot hgiher income from tourism than any other country in the world.

Err...no, Britian is the squashed bit at the top, that big area is actually Spain and the dark red is France.

I think it's based on population too. So the UK will often appear a bit bigger than it normally is because we have a fairly high population density.

Well you're not the first person to mistake Spain for the UK in this thread :p
 
I explored this site a while ago. There are some really interesting ones about health, wealth distribution, life expectancy and such.
The total population one was just scary.

Hehe, it actually made me laugh imagining you Laughing your ****ing ass off at that chap that didn't get it though.

Anyway some of those maps are pretty crap, you can barely make out which country is which :p
