X-25M Squeeling?

Hi,
I can't think of any other way to describe this noise other that to call it a squeel. When my SSD is under load, such as when running the diagnostics on it, or writing large files... it makes a high pitched squeel. It's really high pitched, and I can hear it over everything else.

I thought these drivers were literally silent. I don't know if this is normal, if it is... it's no prob, but, with all my data on it i'd rather know in advance is it's faulty!

My SSD has 10.8GB of 74.4(80gb) free. It just ran the diagnostics with no faults... but squeeled all the way through. It made more noise throughout the "Read scan" than the "Data Integrity Scan".

Any ideas? Any help is much much appreciated!

Sound's like the issue I have been having with my GTX280 graphics card, it too squeals under load. It could be a power supply issue, but I'm not that experienced with these kinds of problems so I'll leave it to the experts out there to give you more accurate opinions.

Erm, no, SSDs are not meant to squeal. I'd get in contact with the place you bought it from for an RMA...

Are you using a Gigabyte motherboard? Some tend to make squealing noises if you have power saving enabled for your CPU such as C1E and Speedstep, try disabling those in the BIOS and see if it makes a difference.

I'm using an Intel X25-M. I'm certain that it is my SSD that has been screetching. My PC airflow is also a bit of a mess. I need to get some good amount of time off work ( I use my home PC for work from home ), to look at it. The other day my PC just turned itself off for the first time on it's own ever... so i'm getting worried about it.

My PC is literally, my pride and joy. I'm a student, lucky enough to have built ( my second build ) the PC in my sig. When things like this happen.. it's genuinly upsetting especially when I can't fix it straight away!

My PSU is a Corsair 650TX. It may actually be my graphics card, but.. it makes the squeel when doing the TRIM function every time without fail, so.. that pointed me towards the SSD. I'll have to open it, and have a good route around.

I really appreciate your help, I will look into it. Are there any tests I can do on the PSU to test it's stability?
Are there any good stress tests or all round diagnostics I can run? I ran the everest stress test which was when my PC instantly restarted. I think I have more than one issue. My comp has had to move to an d from Uni a lot, and is overclocked, it will be down to one of them i'd imagine. It's now not on the floor, and so airflow is improved.

I'll get back with an update after i've ran some successful diagnostics.
