X-COM series on Steam £2 for EVERYTHING

Have the first 4 games on floppy or CD but still bought the pack.
First 2 games in the series are bona-fide classics especially if you like games where you have to think and plan (which some people fail at) . The other 3 games are OK but nothing special - good for keeping you occupied for an afternoon though .

I first tried it on Amiga, oh my goodness it ran terribly (A500+). Alien turns could take like an hour! :D Ran much better on PC, even a 286! Also had both TFTD and UFO on my PSX which ran a bit slow and hogged memory card space but yeah great memories of this game. Still play it from time to time, check out xcomufo.com for some patches and modified exes for bugfixes and tweaks for the game. :D

Did anyone else actually buy this and play it? Been playing UFO almost non stop for the past 2 days, it's funny how I remember the game almost inside out after all these years, it's pretty easy to rock at the game when you know what to build, research etc. Though I can't help but feel that you miss something when you play it surgically.

Have got the cydonia mission to do then I'm off to TFTD.

FYI anyone wanting to play it fullscreen stretched instead of in a box in the middle of the screen make these changes to the dosbox.conf in the steamapps/common/xcom ufo defense/ directory:

fullresolution= change this to your screens res
output= change this from surface to ddraw

Also I dislike the scaler they use it doesn't look very nice:

scaler= change to none
also make sure that aspect= false

Personally i changed cycles to 16000 aswell, made it play much better without lag :)

;)

Also I was bored: X-COM UFO Defense UFOPEDIA & X-COM Terror from The Deep UFOPEDIA also XCOM Apocalypse UFOPEDIA

I remember that, good old times where you could grab a hex editor, open a saved game file, change a few values and pow, more money you could shake a dead alien at.

you can still do this

i gave myself loads of cash at the start of TFTD as per the old days - i have still never finished a game though!

i bought the pack before christmas when it was on offer then - still and awesome game. those brains and the psychic attacks used to wind me up something terrible.

well worth it for £2.

Sweet, xcom apocalypse working in windows 7 would be a dream. I have the CD but never got it to work great on XP before. Always had random sound issues and a tendency to crash.

EDIT: Aw deal over :(

GUTTED I missed this. £2 for that lot is fantastic. Will be keeping an eye out for this deal returning. They need to make a modern remake of the Xcom series, but not mess it up and make it FPS or realtime.

The game you are looking for is UFO:ET

For two quid you can't fault this yes the gfx by todays standards are a joke but the game still entertains and can be quite creepy at times. Nothing worse then nurturing your crack squad only to have your first encounter with etherals and lose the lot lol.

is there a more modern version of this game I remember playing apocalypse but anything more newer and similiar? :)
