Last night I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8, it all went relatively smoothly except now the Creative Console Launcher doesn't remember my settings after I reboot. Had a quick search last night and couldn't seem to find a newer version than the one I was using. The card is am X-Fi Xtreme Music with the latest drivers.

So my questions are:
Is there a version that works with Windows 8 that I didn't find?

Is there a fix I could try or another piece of software I can use to set the individual speaker volume levels?

Or should I just ditch my ages card and get an Asus Xonar?

My elite pro seems ok, Im using the latest PAX drivers ( installed whilst still on Win7 ) with the beta Win8 driver installed over the top :)

i had this exact same problem when i upgraded to win 8 the console would just refuse to launch and i was getting driver issues. In the end i had to ditch the card and get a asus one had to install the unified drivers to get it working smoothly to.

Thanks, just got in from work so gonna give them a try now

Hopefully it won't come to that

Hi
Same problem here

Install latest drivers: SBXF_PCDRV_L11_2_18_0015A

Set the SB console how you like it then put computer to sleep.

Then wake and shut down. (not restart)

Turn computer back on & console should remember settings.

At least mine did:D

This problem drove me mad but has worked 100% since trying this.
I believe its something to do with the speed of a restart not allowing the respective settings to be saved:confused:

Hope all goes well:)

I tried lots of different things tonight, none of which worked. I came back on here to admit defeat when I saw your post and it worked :D This misses didn't look happy when I told her I might need a new sound card...thankfully I don't :)

Hi

Sorry about your new card;)......:D

Glad it now works and to be honest, the Xfi cards are still really good & in my opinion having listened to both, much better than even recent onboard offerings.

going to give this a go myself as i really liked my old xfi card still got it in the loft glad i didnt get rid hope it works. thanks for the info.

X-fi Elite Pro all working as expected. Upgraded from win 7 with PAX drivers, and then the win 8 driver on it. Still has every function it seems (thankfully).

X-Fi gamer here.

Downgraded to windows 8 (excuse the pun). Console launcher has to be changed from 'Game mode' to 'entertainment mode' upon a system restart every time followed for any sound to be output.

It is irritating, but creative have never been brilliant when it comes to drivers.

Yeah thats the problem I had, Console launcher wouldn't remember settings so had no sound after a restart and had to reset settings everytime. The fix above worked for me, not had a problem since :)
