An X-Fi for £25 is amazing really.

Its the Extreme Audio OEM. Will this still play games ok and will it support EAX HD?

EDIT : To answer my own question - Ive had a look on creatives website and No it dosent support EAX so no good for gaming.

yeah but whats it like for playing music through headphones ??

sorry but could someone explain why this would be so bad for gaming?

I have on board sound and its 'canny' while playing games through my amp then to my headphones.

I'd imaging this card for £25 would be a huge leap up in gaming would it not?

Left & right sound is good enough for me, i dont need surround sound, im guessing thats what the EAX offers?

EAX is the hardware sound acceleration and advanced effects. :)

Alrite mate,

Basically it's a drastically cut down X-Fi. With no EAX effects, reduced everything and limited connectivity. There was a graph showing the differences but I can't find it. :(

Oh sorry got them mixed up lol, its not even worth anything then if it does not support EAX, Extreme Music would be the best then.

EAX is worthless if you are going to run Vista, sound has been totally redone iirc.

It's not worthless, I thought Creative were making a fix so that it worked on the X-Fi series?

The Xtreme Gamer is the alternative since the music is no longer sold. Same chip, same features, smaller card.
