Hi again,

I recently RMA'ed my X-Fi and recieved a brand new one. So I inserted the CD into the pc and started installing the drivers but I got the following error. (I have to say, that this was probably the moment my day started going downhill)

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product in your system...."

Here is the picture:

I then went and had a look at device manager and it is apparently listed as the following:

-Access bus controller
-Other PCI bridge device
-PCI gameport controller
-PCI memory controller
-SM Bus controller
-Different PCI slot

I have tried everything i can think of.
Latest NF4 drivers
latest 623 bios
formatted pc

Im hoping that there is a quick solution to this because i have recieved a new card which i think has the latest firmware on it so there is less conflict with nf4.

Any help would be much appreciated. The noise coming out of the AC97 onboard is begining to drive me slowly crazy.

Have you tried taking the card out, restarting and perhaps running Driver Cleaner. Remove all traces of AC'97 and Creative drivers. Then switch off, try the card in a different slot and make sure its seated correctly. Make sure on-board sound is disabled and have a quick check at the BIOS settings for anything obvious just incase. :)

Try installing agin once in Windows, or perhaps try going through device manager and finding the .inf to install the card that way and then run the proper setup.exe to install everything?

Hi there, thanks for the quick response,

Yes i have removed all AC97 drivers and disabled it through BIOS. Should i bother taking it out completely? Tried differnet slot and then install etc. Still no luck. Also tried installing just the drivers and that stiil hasnt worked.

Thanks for the help anyway, is appreciated

Flash to 704-bta, reformat, do a fresh reinstall of windows and remove the two creative startup entries from your startup. Worked for me. :)

704-bta is a modified BIOS, it's for the Ultra, SLI-D and SLI-DR, (they all share the same BIOS) it was made by Bigtoe (an OCZ guy), it seems to be the best of the bunch. The original 704 BIOS was pulled because it allowed a ridiculous vcore setting that could hose your CPU. The bta one removed that option and added a few other bits and pieces. If you need a link (or a read up on it) try here, I ran it in my SLI-D for months.

Hi again :-).

Just installed bios 702-bta and have now got the occasional sign saying multimedia device controller found when i get boot into windows. however i cannot install the driver and i get the same devices recognised in device manager. I think ive got somewhere but not quite got it yet.

Any suggestions? Maybe go the the bother of reformatting again? (As Arcane said)

Sorry im a bit of a noob in these areas - "and remove the to creative startup entries from your starup" - how do i do this?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Andy

Move it to another PCI slot - that will sort it. They're fussy beggers.....mine did the exact same thing, even tho my old SB Live had been working fine in the same slot for 18 months  Moved it down to the next slot and it started working straight away.

Try Curio's advice, otherwise definitely re-install windows. It always sorts it out for me to do that, remember, it's normal for some IRQ's to share in XP, they get dynamically assigned, just not the GPU's and sound. I know it's a pain to reinstall :(, but it'll be worth it if it works.
