x-fi problems

hello all, just fixing and re-installing a m8s pc. he has a x-fi xtreme music card and a asus an8-e mobo with latest bios.

everything installs fine, drivers etc.. but when i reboot its back to no device. when i click on audio console for x-fi it says no sound card detected.

any suggestions?

- Uninstall everything to do with your sound card from your computer.
- Download and install Driver Cleaner Pro, boot up in Safe Mode (press F8 during boot-up) and run it to clean the creative audio drivers off completely.
- Download and install WinRar
- Use this to download You-Pax Software Suite 2007 then extract it so you have the ISO
- Then, open the ISO in WinRar's explorer (or just extract the files from the ISO using WinRar) and run PAXSetup.

I know it's a long process, but that's what i had to do to get it working correctly.

its not even detecting the card now. what ever pci slot i put it in

I just bought an X-Fi XtremeGamer today and had this exact same problem. Removed old mobo audio drivers, restarted, shut down and installed the card and disabled the onboard, rebooted and it isn't detected either by windows or the installer. Have tried in both my PCI slots.

I looked in device manager and I can't see anything. I'm assuming my card is dead, so I'm hoping to take it back tomorrow. Will get back when I've tried the new card.

Yes, that is the exact same problem that I had. Yet to see if another card has the same problem. Don't know now whether X-Fi is worth it, may get a new game and game pad instead.

well just re-installed lastest chipset drivers and is works fine now.

What did you do to fix it? Did you just remove the old drivers and install the latest?

yep thats exactly what i did. used driver cleaner pro to clean it all up then installed

6.86_nforce_win2kxp_international_whql chipset drivers.

ahhh still no joy, just rebooted and the XFI has gone. lol still atleast its not broken

Lol, unlucky. Just got mine working, reseated the card in the slot and it worked. Now I don't dare restart.

my mates is brand new, but i bought it brand new about 18 months ago

mines still on the blink. sometimes its not there when i boot and the only thing i can do is enable on board audio in the bios to bring it back

still really need help, if i re-install windows it works. but i have to re-install the drivers every boot.

if i installed nforce chip set drivers it wont recognize the x-fi ever. please help im gonna have to re-install windows again. this is the third time.
