Any experts on the X-Fi series out there ?

Paid out for an extreem Gamer, but I wonder if it is much different to any of the other's ? including the Oem version OC has on special

Creative has managed to make the product imformation as confusing as possible ;)
Why if they are so much different

Cheers

Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional 7.1 Soundcard - Retail

Difference between these 2 is the 64Mb of X-RAM on the Fatal1ty one to take load off the CPU. The Xtreme Gamer is a low profile PCI card aswell and they both don't come with a breakout box.

This one has the 64Mb of X-RAM and has a breakout box (I have one of these :))

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music 7.1 Soundcard - OEM

OEM = No packaging.

Pretty much an all rounder, but very expensive.

Thanks for that Voo,
One other question which of those cards support EAX 4/5 ?, the cheaper range

What set me thinking was nothing anywhere says xtreem gamer...only on the box.. ;) and 3 modes are selectable

All X-Fi cards with EAX have EAX 5.0 and support any older versions of EAX, also the X-Ram really doesent do anything...

Damm, could have saved a few quid, But very pleased with the low profile card and it does have a heatsink on the Cpu ;) , seem's if You play games You need EAX support--Need Creative

Well, sence My last audigy z1 or something I have had DD cards (and onboard DD) and to be honest they sound just as good as the Creative cards for everything except Games...which is proberly the most important and why the PC has 2 Big Graphics cards in it :D

that seems kinda crazy naming scheme to me. I've got the Fatal1ty FPS Edition. Seems kinda strange that I had to get the one that's named "Fatal1ty FPS" so that I can get the I/Os I want for my musical needs and the "Music" one doesn't have them.

How do people go about using headphones on these cards as well as speakers.
I have a 3.5mm split jack but am unsure of where to plug the headphone socket in the back and what to set windows to so it sounds fine on the headphones (I am using Vista btw). I know I will probably have to change speaker setup to stereo from 5.1 speakers (my speakers are logitech z5500s).

Some speakers have a headphone out Jack, check that first.

Don't waste your money on the fatality, just get the standard Music OEM, or Music with front panel. Paying for the X-ram and only a couple of games use it.

Is the cheapest Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 Soundcard - OEM (~£25) worth getting if I already have an Audigy 2?

Sorry for semi-hijacking this thread just thought its suitable to ask this here. Ive done a search for reviews and it seems there is not much difference between them for cpu usage?

Or is the sound quality that much better that its worth the £25 to get one?

To anyone doubting getting an Xfi card buy one! I had an Audigy 2 and more recently onboard HD sound. I got the Xfi Extreme gamer and wow. This has to be the single most noticable upgrade I have done. The ability to hear all sounds in CSS is superb. Music is very clear and I am using Medusa 5.1 headphones.

Is it worth getting the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro 7.1 Soundcard?

Its very very expensive, yet I want the best card out there - what u peeps think?

Do you really need remote control, and the external controller unit?
The X-Ram is a waste of time. IMO I would just buy the cheapest Music and buy a stereo pre-amp with headphone amp.

Well to be honest, I've never used Creative's remote control, unless in this incarnation I can use it as a media remote on any app (non Creative Labs) - then it will become useful.

The breakout box is useful since I wanna hookup my guitar or anything else to it.

So, ultimately I want the card that is the best for games, making music, and watching movies... so would this be the best card then?
