X-FI Surround Problem

Hi. Got the new SCard installed and after some driver updates it works in Win 64. However, the sound output only comes out of the front 2 speakers.

I have 7.1 selected in the control panel and the channel test only outputs to the front 2. I tried unplugging the other channels from the sound card and the output is the same (ie, it's not the speaker system mixing them the soundcard only outputs all the channels down the one speaker connection, the front 2).

Any suggestions / ideas?

I am assuming you have also installed the Control Panel extras like the Mixer and Audio HQ etc... Set the output in there and verify that Windows' Sound Control Panel also set to 7.1 too!

If it still does it, have you tried a different PCI slot?

Usually if it works for Stereo then it will work for 7.1 too, btu just on the off-chance, its worth checking out.

Also try removing the drivers completely and reinstalling fully?
