Hey,

Just ordered an X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty (had really annoying issues with onboard Realtek, and no joy with the "fake" X-Fi Xtreme Audio I replaced it with!).

Just wondering what the best drivers to use are? I've heard Daniel's drivers being mentioned once or twice - what's good about them? And do I need the other packages, like ALchemy and Console?

Also, I'll only be using 5.1 speakers, so is there an option to assign the side surround jack as a separate output for my headphones? Just to save plugging them in and changing settings all the time!

Cheers,

Suman

Install all the drivers off the disc you recieve in the box - full installation including ALchemy and Console.

Then go onto the Creative website, use the auto update feature it will then tell you which have got software updates for them for auto downloading, repeat the process till everything is updated.

Games, Music, Films - the sound works perfect in Vista 64bit Ultimate, I've tried it on an Intel X58 setup as well as the rig listed below. ;)

If you have an option in the bios - disable the Realtek chip, if their isnt an option then go into device drivers & dsiable the Realtek device there, so it doesnt clash with the X-Fi.

Hey,

Can't I just DL the latest drivers from the Creative site? Seems a bit messy to install old ones first and then auto-update...? Also, I can physically remove the Realtek (Bernstein audio module) as well as disabling it in the BIOS which is cool :)

From the quickstart guide it looks as though I can't use the spare Line Out 2 jack for headphones though, which is a bit poo :(

You can't get all the apps off Creative's website without having an earlier version installed. Install stuff from the disc to make sure you've got the lot.

Hey,

You're right, there's lots of extra features (bloat?!) on the included disc, so I've installed that and now updating from the internets - although Creative seem to have the slowest servers on earth! Not as slow as Realtek's though :p

Initially blown away by the music quality! Far better than both the Xtreme Audio and the ALC855 (which were good but on par with each other). Crystaliser just sweetens the deal :D will have a play around in some games later and see how it goes...

Cheers,
