Are there still problems with x-fi xtream cards and nforce 4 chipsets?

I sold my fatal1ty the other week but im missing it :(

So im thinking of getting the basic version but dont want to have to send it back if it dosent work properly.

also, what are the headphones like that are offered with it as a bundle?

what are the problems?

i'm using an xfi music with epox npa+ ultra (nf4), not seen anything weird!

Its a well known problem, theres a 74 page thread about it on creatives forums.

Well ikm getting one today so lets see what happens.

a 74 page thread with a solution on page 15 iirc. Update mobo bios and your sorted :) Hasn't been a problem with newer revision boards (From all companies) for a while now.

As MeatLoaf stated lots of people have been having problems with the X-Fi cards and nforce4 boards.

The main problem seems to be crackling/popping noises when playing games or listening to music.

Updating the motherboard BIOS has not helped in some cases but the latest beta driver from Creative has solved the problem for some users.

I have Asus A8n-e and xtreme music.

Had problems with the 105 bios, upgraded to 1011 and now runs fine.

I believe the version sold now has the revised firmware on it which removes a lot of the nforce problems.
